So I thought I'd see what 'blunders' have been made by parting ways with a watch you may have had. For me when I got into this game was 2008. Shortly after having known nothing about Rolex apart from what I read he on TRF for months I picked up a Y series 11610LV full kit from a local grey dealer. $7700 CAD I think I paid and I felt too high but I wanted it. It was the most money I ever spent on a timepiece. I did wear it for some time but at the time it felt a bit lost on my bigger wrist. Soon after the big watch trend came about and I wanted something bigger...so I traded it for a DJII
![]() Anyone want to share a similar experience?

No regrets. I’m an over analyzing type. When I make a decision involving any purchase of significance, it’s only after a lot of reflection and research.

I had a z-serial 16610lv
Bought it used for $4200 in 2007. Sold it for $4200 in 2008 I thought I did good at the time with my “free watch” ![]()

For me it is what I could have purchased for so much before all of the insanity started. One that stands out is a DRSD for under $10K.

Why may I ask!? I’m considering a 43mm Navi01 to add to my collection. Would be curious to hear your experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Try winding through 30 days for 24 hours to get to the right date. The easier way still required working though each day |

Buying a couple Omegas before buying Rolex was my big mistake.
Both are gone, and I lost some cash in the process of course. |

I love me some Navitimer, good friend has one so unfortunately I'm out of the running for one, he also has a 116520. Beat him to the speedy and sub thou, all's fair in love and war I suppose

Bunch of vintage models over the years. Market is crazy now, but 25 years ago gilt Subs, Daytona's and GMT's were not like that. Tons of them out there and easy to find deals. I guess the one that stands out--a mint 6263 Daytona Big Red my buddy who owned a small shop that mostly sold and fixed Rolex was selling me a vintage Sub. I think it was 1995. He was going to "throw" in the Daytona for next to nothing--like <1000 if I remember. Never really been a Daytona fan, so I passed. 6263 is worth 50K today, the Sub about 30K.

Learning process can be painful but it makes you wiser. I'm glad I made the same mistake in the past with less expensive watches.

So far, my only watch regret is from buying too many cheap pieces before finding the Rolex way. I’m talking about watches for $100-$200.
Thankfully, I read TRF thoroughly and for a couple months before jumping into the game early last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well, I will add I seriously considered buying the Kermit 10 years ago and didn’t. I guess that could be considered a regret, but I just wasn’t ready for Rolex at the time yet. I’m okay with that miss.

No regrets on purchases. I guess I have been lucky and have come out ahead on most of the watches I have ended up selling.
Any regrets have been on missed purchases. Passed on a mint 16610LV for $4000 and a pre-moon Speedy that sold for $2300 on ebay.

I also had a chance to buy a 6263 complete set last year but passed. Now the prices are double... Sent from my SM-G925T using Tapatalk |

![]() The PAM I bought in 2016 was probably the one luxury item (outside of watches) I truly regret-- too big, too thick, horrendously uncomfortable. Lost a bit of money on the flip after owning it a month and took almost two years to get rid of the straps I hastily bought. |

Mistakes? Every watch I bought before finally acquiring a 5 digit sub a couple years ago. Finally felt fulfilled......for a few months.

Breitling got me into the watch game. I even said "ugh....Rolex is for snobs and are too small". Well here I am after selling all my Breitling's and only own Rolex. Once I really got into watching reviews, reading reviews and trying one on, I fell in love with the brand. I realized I really don't like large watches with busy dials. I still love Breitling but the only one I can see me getting down the road is the Navitimer as I feel it's a classic.

Buying a Tag & Omega Seamaster instead of just biting the bullet and buying a Rolex
didn't loose on the trade but missed a few years of wearing a sub |
