Planet Ocean 39.5
I purchased a Seamaster 300 SMP (black/stainless) that I like and enjoy. However, I have been thinking the 39.5 PO would have been a better choice. But I never see it mentioned here, and I never see it on the WRUW thread. It just doesn't seem to be very popular? How come?

The proportions of the 39.5 are just off. The size is 39.5mm but actual dial is only around 37mm with the difference coming from the crown guard. A thickness of 14.5mm makes the watch too thick for a 37mm face watch.

I think the proportions of the 39 look off. The 43.5 looks better imo. Don’t be worried about the size of the 43.5. It wears like a 42mm SMP, just a little thicker.

My AD never carries the 39.5 PO. It is requested a lot though. I have owned the 39.5, 42 and 43.5. I liked the 39.5 on a rubber strap the best. 14mm thick is not "too" bad. No thicker than most chronograph watches. My second favorite was the 42 on the bracelet. 43.5 was just to darn thick for my 7.25" wrist. Felt like a tuna can strapped to my wrist. Hung on everything it seemed and VERY heavy.

I have a 6.75” wrist and the PO 39.5 was less comfortable than the 300 Heritage (41mm) due to how much thicker the PO is. Also as others have said the proportions look off in person. Photos make the watch look much better than IRL.

omega needs a 36 to 39 mm driver worth a damn that isn't a heritage model.

Love mine…the size is great. I took the blue rubber strap off, and got the caramel-colored brown leather Omega strap with the deployant clasp. Changes it from a more summer-oriented look to more of a fall/winter style. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
