Advice Needed: Which RG Daytona on Oysterflex

I have officially told my AD I've narrowed down my Daytona preferences to two watches:

1. Rose Gold Oysterflex with the black dial

Black Dial.jpg

2. Rose Gold Oysterflex with the sundust dial

Sundust Dial.jpg

I have unfortunately not been able to try on either but I am expecting to get the call on whichever comes in first very soon. My first Daytona so a very exciting moment!

What are people's preferences between the two - especially if you've seen or owned either model? My sense from random YouTube videos is that these watches look pretty different in the metal vs. these photos on the Rolex website.

I'd be very grateful as I can still guide my AD on which one I'd prefer.

Thank you 🙏

Advice Needed: Which RG Daytona on Oysterflex

I’ve seen both in person. #1 is nicer and pictures don’t do it justice.

Both are stunning. #2 has the "more" Daytona black subdials which may be the aesthetic you're wanting?

I love nearly every Daytona dial in production with the exception of that dial on #1. Just not for me at all.

I’m a big fan of the sundust dial on #2 though.

Easy choice for me.

Saw number 1 on a gent in Key West and loved it then my AD had one for show in his case. Great looking watch and more masculine than dial number 2 in my opinion.

I’m agree with @kiddodoc

OP, buy the one u like, it is lots of money..
I suggest u should try them both before u decide. Some of us will like the black dial and some will like the champagne with black sub dial..
but I picked this one up yesterday and yes I like it..

#2, the rubber and ceramic bezel already tones down the gold and with a black dial it has too few gold elements imo

I prefer the second. Might also consider chocolate dial.

Damn that’s tough. The more I look…the more I prefer the light dial. Shocking for me.

Both look equally gorgeous.

For #2: Sundust with baguette hour markers dial would be the real winner.

You should go for the one you love the most.

I prefer #2. It seems to have better contrast and legibility.

I had always wanted number 1. Still do in a 505 but seen the Chocolate and it was a wrap.

OP you can’t really go wrong with any of the choices for the 515. Granted I’m not a fan of the diamond hour markers. Baguettes yes. Smaller ones no.

Yes I was initially drawn to the panda styling with any daytona, but the reverse panda in RG is also quite stunning...

In pictures I would take #1 all day long but I have seen and tried the sundust in person and really liked it so that would be my choice. To me #1 is totally sporty. #2 is a bit more dressy (as dressy as you can be on an OF)

If it must be one of the two, I would go sundust as a personal preference.

Please do yourself a favor and take a second look at the chocolate dial.... stunning in the flesh and my daily!
