Cracked ceramic bezel

I placed my watch on consignment to sell my Gmt 116719 ,the ceramic bezel was cracked . I received the phone call and luckily I have taken recent pictures of my watch . I will call the RSC on Monday for service. Will the RSC just change ceramic or will they require a full service?

Was it cracked while the consignment shop had it?

Only RSC knows. They may want a full service because they assume a big impact may have been required to crack the bezel.

Why is it in your hand and not on the watch?

I remember one thread awhile back where someone cracked theirs. Rolex replaced the bezel and insert and that was it. His had a ding in the bezel itself which cracked the insert, so that was why they replaced both. I think the watch was fairly new though and wasn't time for service. If yours is older, they may require servicing as well?

I'm not holding bezel it's the shop owner holding bezel they were giving the watch a light polish and the bezel cracked . I have recent photos and owner is going to work with me at cost of RSC just wondering what the cost will be for a replacement bezel . It hurts to look at bezel but stuff happens.

Work with you on the cost? It’s their fault I wouldn’t be paying a penny.

Must have been a heavy polish!

I imagine they dropped it.

Let them pay?
Make them pay for the service, and while it’s at RSC, a full check up should be done. It takes quite a trauma to crack a ceramic bezel.

Jeez, someone takes your valuable watch on consignment and this happens, what a pain.

The watch is in very good condition , I didn't understand why they would remove bezel for a light polish .

OK, I’ll ask… why did you have the easiest Rolex to sell on consignment?

Sorry about the damage but I’m genuinely curious because it seems like an absolute own goal move.

Hi CJ'
It's easier to sell through reputable and trusted sellers in most cases. I have done business for many years with the shop. I agree the watch isn't a difficult sell.

I’ve been wondering what the price would be to replace one! Did you get one replaced recently?

I think the 116719 is actually a bit of a slow mover. It’s one watch that’s a bargain in my opinion :)

I can’t say as I don’t buy recently used.

But it’s always in the details and I doubt anyone would consign hightheft jewelry unless they can keep say, 10-15% for the trouble. You’re approaching wholesale values otherwise or what a known forum seller would send a check for unseen and overnight.

It’s hard to tell regardless.

Agree that the 126719 slowed demand for the predecessor.

The cracked insert says something about the consignee’s skills in removing a bezel. Since you’re selling, may as well put in a generic insert and let them Moda-it … Moda-it … get it? Moda…it

Used shop's amateur watch maker / polisher .

Case edges rounded too, because the bezel edge looks rounded ?

RSC is the only people qualified/trained to polish a Rolex .

Pre-owned dealers shouldnt touch a Rolex ,they should just sell it .

They must have removed the bezel as if it was an aluminum one and broke it that way. How can you trust these guys with your watches ???
