My father has his ss DJ since 1970's. It's still working perfectly. Back that days, it only cost $20, not sure how much now.

The Datejust is awesome!

IMO it's the best in the Rolex lineup, as it doesn't look out of place anywhere really. It can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion.

the perfect rolex

I gave the gold face version to one of my sons. It was an early 80's, plastic crystal. I agree with one of the earlier responders-- this watch says ROLEX about as any. As dressy as it looks, it's still a sports watch and will take enormous abuse. Enjoy it.

My wife purchased this pre-owned DJ TT in August and added the diamond bezel. The dial is a Rolex original. Sorry but my photography stinks! In any kind of light, this baby pops with orient colors from the MOP dial and sparkles from the diamonds. It is a very pretty watch.

I have a TT sub with silver serti dial and 40 MM is about as small as I want to wear.

That leaves out the Presidential and DJ for me.

Oh yes! The TT DJ brings back sweet memories for me. I bought mine in 1976 in Singapore when I got promoted to Regional Manager and relocated to Singapore. I remembered that I shopped around for the best discount with a local employee in a weekend. I bought it for about S$1800, US$700. This watch is the most copied by many other watchmakers in the world!

That reminds me to start wearing it again!

My dad has a tt date that looks just like this one. What is the difference between the two besides the name?

good review! and after reading all the comments - i'd say never sell your very first rolex, as you'll regret it later.

I know this review is a few years old, but great job with it. What more can you say about a timepiece than loving it as much 15 years later as the day you bought it? The ultimate testament.

So how old were you when you got yours? I got my TT DJ when i was 24 and i rarely ever wear it as well as i think it would get the the wrong kind of attention.

Nice watch, the TT DJ is what I hope to be my first. Still saving pennys and shopping for a bargain.

My first visit to the site, as I bought my first SS DJ today. 16200 model is being replaced, and the list price was cut by 1/3... I had to get it. I am hoping for years of faithful service, and it just looks brilliant on my wrist.

Datejust to a Thunderbird

I bought my 1st 2 tone datejust used 1 year old from a guy back in 93-tired of the look and had it transformed into a thunderbird-big mistake- I wish I would have never messed with it-I sold it last year and still regret messing with the classic look-
