Patek has completely departed from its brand values. The Tiffany 5711 is a complete joke, hideously ugly and a total PR stunt catering to the rappers.

Sad to see Patek go down this road of self-destruction, alienating their established clientele and doing things to create a buzz which does not add to their brand.

Oh well, this is yet another signal that I need to offload most of my Pateks (will keep my 5196G and 5140G). I definitely can't identify with the current Nautilus/Aquanaut craze and don't want to be seen wearing one. Plus the crazy prices now make it impossible to wear comfortably ...

Agreed.

It's not even the current grey market prices, but the fact that they're being treated as investments everywhere.

What happened to art when they became high-value investments? Art thieves sprouted.

What's happening to watches now? Muggers are getting bolder and bolder.

I had a similar reaction when seeing the AP Marvel partnership and Black Panther Concept, but come on, this is completely different imho...

100 % agree.

My first thought was how to sell my Pateks. Starting with Aquanaut and Nautilus.

There are only 4 Tiffany boutiques selling Patek. Will these trickle out over several years? The Patek salon inside Tiffany in San Francisco is one of these 4 salons. It is basically one salesperson with a handful of watches selling inside a closet. Is this closet store going to release several dozen of these into the wild? Or will these all be allocated and shipped from NYC?

Did they even really release 170 olive dials?

Amazing to see how there outlook changes when demand increases

Unfortunately in the world we live in loyalty is not regarded as a important trait which is very sad.

Look after the person who was in the brand 5+ years not 5minutes and its uber cool to wear Patek.

+1 I can't believe they pulled a Panerai.

Launching this on CNBC shows who their target audience is...

Yeah why the hell was it was released on CNBC still baffles me right now... Even the Patek website has no news about this.

It would have looked more special if the watch was made in platinum instead, after all Tiffany is a jewellery store and Patek would have avoided the burn of launching another 'final' release of the 5711 in SS... This release could have solely been spinned as an anniversay edition of the Tiffany - Patek relationship and it would have made more sense in the minds of PP collectors who shop exclusively at Tiffany.

This makes good sense
170 years tho - its not like its 50 or 100 or 250
170 years - can someone explain the importance or is it because of the big buy out

Has to be one of the lamest releases ever, you can see where their priorities are now and it's not the horology enthusiast.

A single bill weighs about one gram, so if you stick to the airline limit of 25kg/bag, you are looking at 100 suitcases.

Ah, the (turquoise) face that launched a thousand ships.

Great looking piece. Too bad most, if not all, discussions about it will focus on scarcity and money.

THE DIAL IS HIDEOUS!

The hands, indexes, and date border should have been in traditional white gold or platinum. Doesn't look classy or elegant with the blackened gold indexes. Rolex did a better job with the Oyster Perpetual turquoise blue dial.
I'll also add that the co-branding on the rotor is a travesty. I sure hope the pictures being circulated are Photoshop.

They did the "TIFFANY" in All Caps but made the "O" lowercase.

"TIFFANY & CO." should be done in Small Caps where the "IFFANY" and "O" are uppercase but reduced height and weight. (Refer to the official logo on the dial.)

If their intent was to do everything in All Caps, why is the "O" lowercase?

It is also missing the period after "CO"

Piss poor attention to detail. Truly embarrassing.

Looks like no one here will be buying one. Me too. But if a few people have access and enjoy the purchase all the better for them.

As for Patek, a nice holiday present for a few and good publicity for the firm.

To be fair, this isn’t really a Patek launch, it’s a Tiffany launch. The piece doesn’t feature on Patek website, just like all the other collaboration pieces - of which there are numerous examples over the years.

I like the piece, can live with the back, don’t qualify.

As seems the be the usual position these days, lots of people throwing their toys out of the pram.

Tiffany has 0 male Pateks available to sell at the 5th ave store. This is just so crazy. And Stern allowing this bastardization of the 5711 is just insane.

But that’s the watch market these days though. Walk into any Rolex or AP boutique and it’s the same scenario - no watches to buy. I don’t really think it’s fully TS’s decision to release the Nautilus 5711 for Tiffany. When LVMH bought Tiffany, there were a lot of doubts whether the deal would go through in the first place and if I remember correctly, there were talks of LVMH pulling out of the deal during the pandemic. Tiffany on its own has also gradually lost its appeal. In some ways I think LVMH might have gently nudge Patek to help them with one last round of 5711 to boost Tiffany’s profile and give it some positive news among the public.

Don’t get me wrong though. TS is still findings ways to milk the Nautilus frenzy despite all that he said.

I saw pictures of this on social media early this morning. I swear I thought it was a hoax. And when I saw it was on CNBC and not Hodinkee / Monochrome / A Blog to Watch, I thought it was even more of a joke -- someone's playing a prank on "mainstream media" I thought.

Joke's on me!
