Bought the 007 edition but now thinking..

Who cares what your “social circle” thinks?

Having said that, there are many other Omegas I’d buy for the money. I personally hate the bracelet on the NTTD and that’s why I picked up a black seamaster on rubber. Truly a fantastic watch that is on par with some of my rolex and gets more wrist time than any other watch I have.

Also, the fact that most of my social circle only knows about rolex thanks to instagram, I actually prefer wearing the omega around them lol

Gosh this post makes me sad. As others have said, buy what you love. But if you love the admiration of your friends because of the watch you wear, time for some self assessment.

Thoughts?
I agree with you

If you like it, who cares what others have or think.

A ROLEX is beautiful watch too, I'm not sure what a "rollie" is.

Who cares about others? I know of people, myself included, and many more with vast highly expensive watch collections on this forum, that are just as excited over an Omega as they are with a Patek Phillipe.

In fact, my last 2 purchases are Omegas and I’m still lusting for a Bond watch and a few Speedmasters.

Trust me, it feels great to “show off” your flashy “Rollie” or get some clout when people notice the AP on your wrist, but that wears off very quickly and you have to be happy with what YOU find appealing. Plus, you would be surprised how few people care about a submariner since it’s the “it” watch for the past 30 years..and that those who are watch collectors and fans may actually respect you more for having something a bit unique and different from the crowd.

Sad that people buy a watch for status. I’d sell it and get a Rolex! One of my favorite features of my PO, is no one knows what it is unless they are a watch person.

you spend 9k on a watch...not being sure if you even want it , then you are worried about social circle opinions... is this for real?

wear a watch you like, or educate your friends if you like.

if you can drop 9k without putting much thought in, you can probably afford to go out and source a Rolex as well.

But maybe you should spend some more time thinking about what you really might value- maybe even a step up to VC/AP/Patek.

........or just become the circle and stick with rolex ....

Well crap, It's been on my list for a while but never pulled the trigger. The way the word "discontinued" affect the price, I guess I won't be seeing that one in my collection
...
..
Hey OP, since your friends don't like yours can I have it?

Was this directly from Omega? Quite surprised they would have discontinued it already as there is no sign of a new bond or bond film yet.

When I bought mine at the beginning of the year I was told that it wouldn’t be available much longer, so this is probably accurate.

Everything gets discontinued eventually. I thought this watch would be around through another couple of years at least but I guess not.

The day your friends buy you a luxury watch maybe then you could allow them to opine on your choice. Otherwise, forget about it. Your money your choice. You bought it because YOU liked it. End of story. Enjoy it. It’s a great piece.

Just buy things you like and want to wear. Dont worry about anyone else. You could wear a $200 watch and get more compliments on it then a Rolex just based on how it looks. Omega is one of the most recognizable brands out there and in my opinion has some things better then Rolex. We all know most people buy Rolex for that clout but in my opinion you should be happy to be that person in your group thats different. I would take that Omega over many Rolex’s and most people and watch enthusiasts will know what you have on. If you like it and it looks good on you who cares about all that outside B.S!

That’s a great watch, you really don’t have to go for what your social circle is familiar with. Maybe you have a secret admiration for Rolex, if that’s the case then you should do a swap. But as for me, I’m rocking my Omega and make sure my social circle know about it from my wrist.
