Cost of resizing an Omega blacelet?

Not sure if this is a norm for Omega, but my local AD informed me that it will cost $100 to resize my Speedy Pro bracelet(Cal. 3861). Was quite surprised that they would charge me that kind of money even though I bought the watch from a different boutique.

That's whack. My AD resizes anything I own for free no matter where I bought it and I am hardly a massive spender.

I had a De Ville bracelet sized for free at an Omega Boutique recently.

I would find another AD for all my business. It should be free and it does not matter that the watch was purchased elsewhere.

I just sized my new 3861 on Friday, it is very easy with the screw in links. Heat them up first. No way I'd pay $100 for an AD to do this.

$100?? That's ridiculous. Get a $10 screwdriver and you can re-size it as many times as you'd like. It's quite simple.

$100 seems excessive. I agree with others, that most won’t charge anything.

I’ve offered $20 in the past to my AD to size bracelets, just as a token of appreciation and they refuse to accept every time.

In fact any competent jeweler would do it for free.

I would get a new AD. I can "almost" understand walking into a jeweler you've never been to before and being charged something, but $100 is still ridiculously absurd. I used to tip the jeweler for interrupting whatever work he was doing when my AD would take me back to his shop. I have since bought properly sized tools and do it myself. It's all about getting the right screw driver which for Omega is the Wiha 1.8mm. Once you have this, the process is extremely simple.

My watchmaker in local family jewelry store does it for free. I give him $20 for lunch or first round.

Could it be that the person you asked wanted to pocket $100 for him/herself

Its a 3 min job. Most ADs do it for free and some charge a small fee (often if you dont have a purchase history). 100 usd however is a complete joke

I always do this myself, as it was worth getting the tool (s) to properly do so. For anyone not willing, most places should do it for a minimal charge of $20 or less, and as you see from above most will do it for free.

Given the simplicity, it should be beneficial for an AD to do so (or charge a smaller amount if you didn't buy from them).

Either way, I hope you get it done soon so the watch in question can be enjoyed to the fullest.

We had a local Rolex AD that would only charge if you didn't buy the watch from them. The cost was $25.

I’ve never been charged from my AD/jeweler ever. It’s was been a courtesy. $100 is crazy.

I would laugh in their face. Get it done for $20 somewhere else (or do it yourself for free).

That's totally ridiculous. Is this an OMEGA AD that told you that? Omega ADs and Boutiques always resize Omega bracelets for free. I'd let Omega corporate know about that.

All OB had adjusted bracelets for me for free no matter where I bought the watch. If they charge anything it's either they are an AD or there's something else going on.

Even the tools required is 50 or less.

I've only heard of a charge if the place you took it to doesn't sell the Omega brand. But others have spoken quite rightly, find someplace else to take it. It shouldn't cost you anything. Enjoy your 3861!

Pop into an Omega boutique, they will do it for nothing and show you some nice new pieces.

That would probably be my last visit to that AD.

That's ridiculous. A good AD or the boutique will do it for free as a gesture of goodwill. A bad one will charge $25 or less. I would never go back to that dealer again.

This.

I have basic Bergeon tools and perform simple tasks.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned what seems obvious in this situation. That's a polite way of telling you they don't want to do it.
