That exact DJ41 configuration is probably the hardest to get and most desirable out of the full DJ catalogue.

Thank you, I wasn't aware of that (I figured it would be something like the Wimbledon dial or so). However I'm fine with a struggle. I just fell in love with the watch once I saw it on here and would like to add it to my tiny collection, if possible. Whether sooner or later doesn't really matter to me.

Should I communicate towards the AD that I don't mind a significant waiting time? Does this qualify me as an honest buyer or would it just make it easier for them not to treat me with any priority?

Yes. Let them know you're happy to wait. Pick a couple dial colors and wait.

Appreciate your feedback, Brad. Also reg. the DJ36, will definitely try one on. I understand that the smaller size is a bit more in line with the dressiness of the watch (obv. also dependent on the individual wrist size)

My first was a DJ41 black dial, smooth bezel. I got some grief for not going fluted but to me i would wear it more like that so, so thats all that matters :)

As promised, I wanted to keep you in the loop. I went to the AD today and was able to try out the following models / configurations (apologies if any of the terms are wrong or so, I'm not an expert):

- DJ 41 mint green fluted dial; fluted bezel; both Oyster and Jubilee

- DJ 41 blue with diamond index; fluted bezel; Jubilee

- DJ 41 mint green; fluted bezel; Oyster (my initial request except without the Jubilee bracelet)

- DJ 36 blue; fluted bezel; Jubilee

- Twotone Skydweller with black dial; Jubilee

- Pepsi on SS Oyster

- Daytona Panda (SS)

It was a very nice experience and they took their time for me. Unfortunately, I didn't really feel the emotions/connection needed for me to drop 10-15k on one of them. The ones I liked the most were the DJ 41 mint green on Oyster, the Pepsi and the Daytona (knowing that the latter two are not really realistic at the moment). The waiting time for the DJ41 was quoted to be a little more than a year.

The conclusion was that I will call them every now and then to check if there's an exhibition model of the mint green DJ41 with a Jubilee bracelet.

I am a little disappointed that I didn't fall in love with any of them. I felt they were underwhelming, but this is just my personal opinion. Maybe they also just don't suit me.

10-15k is a lot of money for something you aren’t sure about and I think it’s wise to not be impulsive.

You could check out other brands too, and may find you adore one that is 1/3 of the price of a Rolex and available right now.

Or, you may scrap the whole idea and use that money to take a vacation to Japan or New Zealand…

I’m thinking the same thing. I always that specific watch is difficult to get. Even the blue dial is easier.

They said that blue and mint green are approx. equal at the moment. Up to 1 year or a little more.
