The most valuable service Trusted Sellers on here provide is being Trusted Buyers

It’s a tough and dangerous world to try and sell an expensive watch in

Likely this individual will be found, but highly unlikely you will get your watch back. As a professional con man, he would definitely have a source to dump the hot goods just minutes after the crime....

It's gone.

Was it insured?

I, like everyone here, am sorry this happened. Welcome to the forum despite it being under these circumstances.

Your thread has had at least one positive outcome already because of the link to a photo of your perpetrator. Please contact the police to add that information to the police report.

You may already know this but maybe not. Rolex keeps a theft report of watches. You must contact their US HQ and provide the details of your watch - it doesn’t matter where you bought it. But they will want a copy of the police report. This ensures a seizure if a future buyer sends the Watch into the Rolex Service Center for any work to be done.

Yes, I am wondering this too. $13,900 is well above the market value these days for a 124060.

Nonetheless, sorry this happened to you. This particular crook is well known at this point.

Excellent advice here to the OP ^^^^

Op, I’d like to echo what others have already said … sorry to hear and I hope you are somehow made whole out of this awful situation.

Lesson learned, and at least nobody got hurt… Better this than being assaulted and robbed.

A long shot, but the 100 dollar bills serial number might be a lead. Often a bank will have record of who was given "Large"......Slim, but a start.....

Priorities in a watch theft case, from the police aren't too high on their radar, I'd have to imagine....

Why didn’t the bank teller provide you the money directly after counting it? Yet another reason I don’t deal with this stuff. AD transaction or bust.

I would be highly suspicious if someone wanted to actually buy a 124060 for a $14K .. That's like at least 25% more than what they are going for ..

If he didn't have a mask and the bank gives the video to the police, don't worry, they'll take him.

Sorry to hear about this OP! Maybe at the expense of your tragedy we could all take away some wisdom here. I’m not sure that I’d ever sell any of my watches but is in person transaction generally a bad idea? What would be the best approach to complete a high dollar amount local transaction

I went straight to the Daly City and they did not want to do a file result. They said that this is a civil case and I have to file online.

Hi, the crook brought his money. We both went to the teller and had it counted to make sure it is the right amount and it is real money. I insisted to have to it deposited but the guy wanted the money in his hand then put it in the envelope and give it to me directly.

You are in the bank, the teller counts the money twice and it adds up, at what point after it is counted twice do you give him back the “Good envelope” and you receive the “Bad envelope”.

I am truely sorry just trying to understand it for others.

Good luck
He wanted the money in his hand and didn't want me to hold on to it.

Doesn’t Chrono24 offer escrow in US? Why we dealing with cash in hand of over $10k??
This. If buyer can't make a transaction through a bank deposit or escrow system I would walk away. Only crooks pay in cash these days (fake bill, dirty money or switcharoo bs).

So sorry, at least you (and the authorities) now know who it is.

For other readers, a lot of towns actually have a place at local police stations to perform some of these transactions.

Apparently this guy is making a living off of this according to the link posted, 80% of his victims probably aren’t even making a report out of shame and embarrassment. He’ll eventually get caught, unfortunately the watches won’t be retrieved.

According to linked post, the FBI already had a file on him. OP, report serial number stolen to Rolex USA and then call the FBI.

Or maybe very first step is a local police report. Then the above two steps.

Even if it was insured, it might not be covered.

Jeweler's Mutual doesn't cover "Voluntary Parting" which they define on their website as Jewelry loss caused by selling an item to a fraudulent buyer. For example, if you try selling a ring and the buyer’s check bounces, it won’t be covered.

Let's let the question be answered. OP??????

My insurance company would cover this type of lost, under mysterious loss. I called.

As usual, my scepticism has me questioning ANOTHER brand new poster claiming Theft/stolen/loss.....

This one does sound a bit more legit, and it really does suck to get burnt.

Being a 12 series, says it was owned for a short period of time. Why sell?

waiver......My post is not meant to be hurtful in any way. Asking....
