Rolex Submariner with or without date?

Which of these 2 models would you choose? In terms of beauty and possible future resale.

If strictly black dial/bezel... No Date 110%.

There are quite a few threads on this in existence. Personally I’m a submariner guy, no need for a date.

I don't have any hard data to back this up but I'm sure the date sub outsells the sub by a wide margin. So, for re-sale, you're probably going to have more people interested in the date sub.

Regardless, just get whichever one you like the best. I bet the odds are better that you keep it in the end and you won't have to worry about resale value.

BTW, it's date for me as I use it multiple times per day/it's very useful to me.

As far as looks are concerned, I would go without the date. Not sure on resale value, as there are several references with varying value.

Go with whichever you prefer. If you have no preference get the one with the lowest acquisition cost. I like a date. I can't tell you what you like.

I personally prefer the clean aesthetic of the Submariner without a date.

Said it before and I'll say it again. A sub isn't a sub without the date/cyclops. Sure the no date came first but since its inception that date has blown the no date out of the water. A sub without the cyclops doesn't look like a Rolex to me.

Had both, kept this. The ones with a date are more popular, no question, and will therefore sell for (and cost) a little more.

If it were my only watch, I’d probably want a date function but hands down this one looks better.

One of each?

I like the clean look of the Submariner but I do find the date on the sub date pretty useful.

Resale is really a non-issue as the used prices reflect from the new prices. Subdate brings a little more on re-sale, but it also costs that additional amount more when purchased new. More Dates out there with a bigger market for them. Far less Subs with a smaller market for them. So, buy the one you want and will wear long term is the best advice. If you rely on the date function at all on a watch, you will never be happy with the Sub, no matter how much history you may read it has, as the original design.

Oh man, you had me...... until you hit the "resale" button.

It's a Rolex, they've been "resaling" for over a hundred years.

Dates go for more preowned. Check any watch sale or auction site.

This is for reals.

Kermit or hulk then it’s a diff story.

But imagine a world with a no date sub that’s green.
