Yes. Another opinion on a trade

Hi everyone,
Seeking advice and opinions on a trade under consideration. I currently own a silver dial RO and I'm seriously thinking of trading it for a white dial diver.

I simply don't find myself giving the RO the wrist time it deserves. I think I'm more comfortable in more "sporty" models, but I'd still like to have an AP in my collection.

My RO is an I series and I'm looking at a mint condition J series diver. The potential deal involves my RO plus cash in the range of $3K-3.5K.

Thanks for the feedback,

You have a newer RO and your trade will cost you for an older Diver? I don't think I could.

If it makes you happy then yes. Flipping is an expensive hobby, AP is no exception.

I completely agree. Just wondering if anyone has gone the RO to diver route.

Thanks,

Nope, went directly to the Diver in ce, if you had the Jumbo would say NO WAY, but don't love white dial RO's, the white dial diver is much nicer IMO

You've answered the question right there.
Doesn't matter what we think, you know in your heart that the RO isn't being appreciated/worn as much as you'd expected it would.
Not sure I'd opt for the white version, least of all if you like a decent amount of luminescence — that's the trade-off for the dark colour used for contrast when there's light.

I could not do that trade, much prefer the RO to the divers, but to each his own.

Thanks,
Well I did. I had a 15400 black and traded it away only to acquire a 15707ce a few months later.

I had a similar logic as yourself. Preference for sport. Also felt my 5711 overshadowed my 15400 at the time. In retrospect that was a touch misguided.

I eventually fell out of love with the diver c as well

Wow. So did you keep the diver or let it go?

I wouldn't. I like the diver, but I'm just not in love with the rubber strap. BUT... if you don't wear the RO, let it go!

Let it go. Aesthetics were my reasoning and they are so subjective, no need to elaborate

I want another RO or ROO but I'm thinking hard this time!

Diver's a good choice, but try all on before you settle on white. I also sold my SS Diver, after a couple of years it felt a bit bland, got my sights on a 44mm now, more the ROO ticket for me.

Personally I would and don't really understand why you shouldnt if you prefer sport models like I do. The 15400 is a handsome watch but if you dont dress up often it would absolutely make sense (y)
