Yep a quick compare of the movement side gives it away.

Evan at a casual glance the quality is not there.

As for close inspection?

The good 5167 fakes are scary close to the real one. Case thickness gives it away. But I’ve studied one next to my real one and it is shockingly close. Makes it critical to only buy from trusted sources and have an AD confirm authentic. A fairly Davy watch buyer new to Patek could be fooled.

Geez, pretty good fake!
There are some tells, but it took me a second look over for sure.

The watch has been polished for sure but I am a sucker...I cant see the difference...especially on movement. Never seen a replica (never mind fake) when when even the geneva stripes are perfectly aligned and had perlage

The bridge for the regulator is the most immediate thing that's different.

Fakes (replicas etc) are so good these days that unless you have the genuine article to compare, most would never spot one.

Looks pretty clean to me... the replicas I’ve seen the movement looks like ass and the dial also looks like ass as well as the polish

Edit: Didn’t see the last post

There are many but not quite evident

The movement : much lower quality of finish, look at two levers on balance cock, jewels, just for start

The dial is not correct, compare with pic of original

The strap has bad pattern

but yet, from some feet away it could be said that what defines if was genuine or not is more like the owner than the watch, if you understand my point..

best

The obvious thing is the date is too big. I wish mine had a date that big. Maybe I'll trade mine for that fake. lol

Also, I believe cote de geneve (stripes) on back are stamped, not hand abraded. But that is a very good fake. It will fool many people.

Yep, obvious junk.

Just to clarify though: The 5167 is stainless steel. As such, there are no PM hallmarks on the underside of the lugs.

The pic above that nda posted is of a 5168 (white gold), thus the purity/hallmarks.

Another obvious sign - the globe pattern in the background extends past the 5 and the 7. It should not.
