I used e-bay to buy my white gold day-date. But only for the initial contact, after that I used and payed for escrow.com's service. After e-mailing the seller he agreed. It gave me time to have the watch checked out before I released the funds to the seller.

I highly recommend it for high value items...;)

Man, that sucks. This is why I'm afraid to sell my watch on eBay--I don't know if there is a fair way for both parties to do a trade on such a big ticket item without someone getting potentially screwed on a deal. That's exactly my biggest fear: having someone say they don't like the watch or having an issue, and then pretending to have sent it back to me but keeping it instead.

Fortunately, I've done plenty of eBay deals in the past without any issues (and had 3 times where the items weren't as described but got a prompt apology and refund or a partial refund) but I've set my auctions not to allow bidders without feedback or with negative feedback and only those with a paypal account and yet I've had bidders with zero feedback and NO paypal set up win an auction before. Very frustrating! Especially since in the last one I specifically said I didn't want any bidders who aren't able to pay within 24 hours of the end of auction, and set up the preferences to ignore people who don't have paypal set up on their profile, and yet somehow someone without PayPal won. Grr!

From my experience, since the buyer return the merchandise "empty box", the buyer will be refunded.

I'm not sure which is more rampant these days, but it sure makes it hard for both sides. I'm strictly a buyer, I just want to get one or 2 more Rolexes, and most sellers here (not including you) won't give me the time of day because I'm new. And when I look elsewhere, like ebay, I see more Folexes than Rolexes. It's just gotten so hard for honest seller to know who the honest buyers are and vice-versa.

how do you sell a watch? I put my watch on ebay and got a guy that sent me his number to talk. But when I called the next day his phone was disconnected...He had no feedback...its almost more of a headache to sell the watch then just keep it...where can you find honest buyers? I have a rolex watch up there now and just hope I get an honest buyer.....

I was bidding on an auction recently where I ended up being just the third or fourth highest bidder. When I saw it had ended for way more than it was worth I forgot all about it, but the next day I got a second chance offer. The seller explained to me that the bidders who had outbid me were all no-feedback bidders from places like Nigeria and I was the highest bidder that he felt comfortable selling to.

That time it worked out well for both sides, as I accepted and bought the ring for the amount I had bid.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i believe I have fallen victim to the same individual!!!

Shipping on paypal account is made out to Eniko Magy but the name Robert Ramos is still linked to the account. Google search brought me to this thread.

EBAY ID is babushee1
Located in Miami FL, 50 Biscayne BLVD apartment complexe.

Bought my Yachtmaster of a 10 day auction and claimed it was not working and wanted me to pay for repairs.

Told them to send it back for a full refund.

They opened a case with ebay as "item not as described".

I gave a Fedex waybill for return.

I get a message from eBay that the case is closed and the buyer has been refunded!!!!!

Buyer never sent me my watch back and I have just been debited $6300.

Ebay says the item was counterfeit and they have written proof (a letter or some sort from a jeweler stating parts from the movement are fake)

Who puts a fake movement in legit two-tone Rolex with original link bracelet anyways, movements are not that expensive?!?!

That's horrible. When you say debited, was the money just sitting in your paypal account? If not, I would fight it tooth and nail. Did you see a copy of the letter? I don't know who would put in a fake movement. Is it possible the movement was fake? Ebay usually returns the money after the return, not before. Something sounds off here.

We sell lots of watches on ebay, so we carry a balance in our paypal account all the time.

The movement was not fake 100%, they only thing about this watch was the case back being stamped inside with a ref number of a GMT, and it was fully disclosed in the listing.

That said, eBay decided that is was counterfeit because of the proof provided by the buyer and asked them to destroy the item and proceeded to refund him.

I on the other hand have no money or watch!!! I am currently fighting this one with eBay all the way, I am aghast that eBay would do such a thing!!!!!!

That's crazy that ebay can do that without at least providing you the evidence they got. Especially with the sales record that you say that you have with them, you'd think they would treat you somewhat decent. This is very discouraging.

a simple look at his feedback left to other sellers paints a pretty darn accurate picture of his scam.

Wow...Ebay ought to take a look...unless they think somehow this guy is the most unlucky person on eBay...what a piece of work!

Selling is now just as dangerous as buying it seems!

Wow never seen anything like that. Way too obvious there a scammer. Needs to be Highlighted to EBAY. Also looks like its a younger woman. Buys many hand bags and a gaming unit. Hope they can find her and put her away for fraud.

How do you not get banned from eBay with feedback like that? How many chances do you get? Yet if the buyer has one bs complaint they get refunded and keep the item. I hate eBay.

Need to contact Ebay ASAP and escalate the matter. No way Ebay should be able to get away with supporting a buyer with that feedback

Definitely, and ask to speak to a supervisor, and please don't take no. Keep calling back until you get someone that communicates clearly if necessary.
