Air King 5500 Hands
Hello,
This forum seems like a great place to get some clarification about a recent acquisition. I recently purchased this Air King 5500. The serial number and case markings date the watch to iii 65. I'm wondering about the hands however. I've seen this style of hands on Air Kings, but I've seen other styles of hands on 5500's from this period as well. Can someone enlighten me as to the "correct" hands that should be on a '65 Air King? My AD checked everything out and gave it the "thumbs up," but I didn't ask him specifically about the hands. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! |

Appears to be Rolex hands but not from the 5500. Later replacements. The oem hands look like this and should be easy to find:
Dial appears original and is consistent with a 1965 AK. You can tell because the 369 indices are wider and overall shorter than late 70s thru end of production in 1989. The ref 5500 was made for 37 years

The hands look more like 1500 hands to me.

Thanks for the feedback! Any recommendations about where to acquire the correct hands? I want to make sure I'm getting Rolex parts and not aftermarket.
