Gas station watch more reliable than my GMT?

(Rolex GMT master 2c in shop with AD for running 1 hr slow for every 2 hours)

I wear my Rolex more as an accessory than a watch, but before purchasing it I was wondering why is the fact that the watch can keep a second timezone a mark of excellence? Can't you get digital watches that keep EVERY timezone in the world?

Also as my friend was quick to point out, he could probably use his iphone to google earth Big Ben, snapshot a picture of it and text it to me by the time I can read the time off my bezel.

Yes, losing 1hr accuracy every two hours is not so good. I think it needs adjusting at best.

Yes you can get cheapo digital watches with lots of timezones.

Yes, your friend could possibly use his iphone to google earth big ben, snapshot it and text it to you in the time you are able to read your bezel.

..... but only if you are a really really really really slow reader, or have absolutely dreadful eyesight.

I'd get that GMTc regulated if I were you, perhaps on the way back from your eye test.

You don't wear your GMT 2 to tell the time? You wear it as an accessory. I want to cry for you.

Really!?!?Like around your neck on a gold rope chain?

Ok, all the jokes aside. Is the watch fully wound, I mean, if it's worn for a couple of hours a day and put down, then there's no way the mainspring is fully wound.......that's an easy fix........wear it and use your iphone as it's meant to be used......surfing TRF

As for your friend with the phone, I'm sure he's not into watches, but around here, we are, very much so.Yes, an iPhone can tell time in Timbuktu, and do all kinds of cool stuff, but it looks ridiculous taped to your wrist.

...I don't always use the phone to get the time of day, but when I do, I call for the recorded time.

First off, it doesn't track just two time zones, it will track all of them that are on the hour. Try turning the bezel, it actually rotates. You really should read the manual.

Secondly, the GMT Master is a mark of excellence because it has been tracking time around the world via an automatic mechanical movement for almost 60 years. Rolex innovated the GMT complication and it is still the gold standard against which all other GMT timepieces are measured.

Yes, many a digital watch keep world time - until the battery goes dead or it gets wet. And how many times a day does your friend have to plug in his iphone?

I must say though, you have good taste in "jewelry" and definitely know how to accessorize.

Welcome to the forum.

most of the time i look at my phone , to tell the time ,,, and i never take my watch off ,, watches really are not about telling the time any more ,,, more a personal statement about telling others about your values.

Send it to Bob Ridley. Put it on your wrist. Do not remove. Install shock device for whenever you try to remove it. That is all :-)

X2 I agree! Accessory might as well get a hand bag to go along with your watch accessory! You must be joking right!

My personal opinion of this thread and its just my opinion is that this a post from someone clearly intent upon inflaming peoples feelings. If you don't like the watch then get rid of it or get the damn thing fixed. But an accessory item or comparing it to an iPhone .... Cmon

I just hope that this is not another case of a user, who does not know that GMT hand takes 24h for one rotation. :)
