Sub LVc vs GMT BLNR
Hi All,
I'm in the process of acquiring a second Rolex into my collection. I was going for the GMT BLNR, but a collegue of mine asked me why not the Green Sub. From a purely logical perspective, I already have the SDDS and been wearing it as a daily wear for 5 years now. I'm a big guy, so the SDDS suits me well and is not cumbersome. I figure I already have a dive-watch, so why would I want another? The GMT offers different utility functions from the Sub altogether so it would be nice to have something different. About the only thing on the Sub I'm going to miss on the BLNR is that nice glidelock clasp like on my SDDS. I don't mind the polished centerlinks and actually like them as it's something different. I'm starting to wonder if the glidelock clasp, or rather, lack of glidelock clasp on the BLNR is going to be the dealbreaker. Does anyone know how much the GMT weights vs the Sub LVc??? I'm thinking the Sub is heavier due to the glidelock clasp.[/B] I'll be making one more trip to the AD and trying on both before I make my final decision. FYI, I work in an office environment where we go by a business casual wear policy. So no suits. I've been wearing my SDDS to the office all this time and would do the same with whichever new watch I decide to go with. I guess I'm just looking for a little direction on my choice. Thanks |

The GMTC weighs just over 140 grams from what I could find, and the SubC about 160. Anyway, figure about 20grams difference. At least a good part of that difference is probably in the case, the rest in the clasp.

I guess it would depend on how often you adjust your bracelet on a daily basis.
Why don't you try playing around with the extra half-link adjustment on the GMT clasp, see how that goes? |

clearly Sub LVc heavier than BLNR Gmt due to glide lock system. i have seen a lot of BLNR on big wrists as well. it fits very nice on them. And since you already have DSSD, i'd go with blnr gmt for the rotation then…...

Agree, don't need two divers, go for the BLNR.

You already have a diver. So, mix it up a bit to round out the collection....get the BLNR. You will not regret it! On the off chance that you absolutely hate it (won't happen), you could always sell it fast about as it is pretty much the hottest thing out there at the moment....perhaps even making a small profit if you leave the stickers on. Just wear it around the house for a couple of days to check it out.
Remember: No watch decision is permanent. It can all be reversed / sold off. Enjoy whatever you end up getting. I hope this helps. |
