UK Second Hand Pens
Hi All
Does anyone have any good recommendations for where to shop for second hand pens in the UK. Most of the FS section here seems to be based in the States as does FPN (although that I find harder to navigate). Potentially looking to pick up an MB 146/classique FP. Would be interested to hear what anyone else paid for one as a guide for "too good to be true" prices. |

I have been to the UK many times and most of my best finds were in corner antique shops.
Nothing special, but just a pleasure to browse and dicker with. Best of luck!

Remember that Montblanc called several very different fountain pens "Classique"; there was the super slim cartridge/converter 144 that had a slip on cap and the newer cartridge converter just slightly larger 145 that has a threaded cap. there was also an earlier one from the slim pens based on the two digit models when Montblanc discontinued all the cigar shaped pens except the 149.

Backstory, the my current Le Grand was an engagement gift from my wife. We used it to sign the wedding register and my son's birth certificate so don't want to use it as a daily to avoid loss/damage. Now on the prowl for an alternative |

Just go in and look around in the antique shops. There are a ton of pens to be had at good prices if your are patient. And the quest is as fun as the acquisition.

And while your 146 has sentimental value, it's not really an unusual or unique fountain pen. Look around, fondle as many as you can, broaden your horizons. There are brazillions of really wonderful pens out there today.
