Nope, it’s a watch.
I insure it and wear the heck out of it.

Do you find yourself living in your house less, as the value increases?

Its my daily.
Took it to Korea & Japan last month. I wear what I like and don't care much for future value. That's for my kid's, kid's, kid's etc... to figure out. |

No.....there are far more important things in life! Whilst I would stop well short of abusing a watch, if I ever got to the point where I was afraid to wear it, I would move it on. Can't see that happening anytime soon!

Negative...mine is my daily and don’t think twice about it. Subs are meant to be worn; you don’t pay 8,500 for a watch that looks like an ordinary watch to the average Joe not to wear it. If / when it is time to retire my sub, I will get another and wear it daily.
However for other stainless pieces, such as blue SkyD or Daytona, I view those more as one a week watches and would actually take more careful of them. |

So, when it's an $8,000 Sub, you wear it with impunity and enjoy it. But when it's a $10,000 Sub, you're thinking about it differently?
Also, IMO, Rolexes are too expensive, whichever model you have, to buy and not wear/enjoy. If you pay for insurance, that cost doesn't go away if it sits in a safe. The $1,000 service doesn't go away if it sits in a safe. Etc. IMO

All my watches, SS and TT get rotated and worn in turn on a daily basis. No specials, no safe queens. I don't baby them but I don't abuse them. Some of them are quite marked now and there are dings in places. Unwelcome, unavoidable, but nothing to worry about. If I put some serious damage on one I would get it repaired. Same as a car or a pair of shoes.

I don’t wear the Batman as much because of increasing value but it’s still not a safe queen.

Value is not really increasing unless you materialise a gain. We are in a watch-bobble and hence if you wear it less due to perceived value, then you should rather sell it

I wear them more, you never know when you’ll run into a buyer! I’m kidding, my habits haven’t changed at all.

I think when you feel the need to preserve something and not use it as intended it means that the purchase price was above your comfort zone. I have no problem hard using any ss Rolex but when I had the 116655 gold Yachtmaster I was careful with it because of the high cost.

I'd sell any watch I wasn't willing to wear.

I am wearing and enjoying the heck out of my BLNR. That is the fun thing about Rolex watches... versatile and still sell it for just about what you paid for down the road...
Wear and enjoy your watch. That is the reason you bought the watch, right? I know I did. |

Rolex is the one watch where scratches are more appreciated than a squeaky clean polish, other watches like Grand Seiko will definitely be docked points for scratches but Rolex is an exception. There are people who restore stretched bracelets too, nothing really to worry about.

I reduced my wife’s Kermit wrist time- only because she’s rough with her watches. I only have her wear it for shopping or parties; no longer a vacation go to watch. I, on the other hand- I bought them to wear them.
