Holy smokes Batman!
Ok guys, it finally happened!. As some as you know, my wife has been trying to buy me a GMT II blue/black on jubilee as an anniversary gift. She called over 50 Rolex dealers and all brushed her off as a time waster. They would start off nice but once they figured out its a steel GMT II she was looking for, the tone would immediately change and they would lose interest.
Since I live in Houston, My wife and I called/visited the Rolex ADs here and told them we were looking to buy a GMT II as an anniversary gift. All of them just said no we don’t have it and that was it. One of the stores I visited was Thomas Markle Jewelers. I explained that my anniversary is coming up and I would really like to get a GMT II blue/black to mark the occasion. I spent over 15 minutes talking to him and he told me to leave my name and number. My wife gave him her information since she is paying for it and wanted to get it and pay for it herself. I left there with a lot hope as I spoke to him longer than anyone else I have talked to and I felt like he was actually listening to what I was saying but then when I started thinking a little deeper, I couldn’t help but think since I have never shopped with them before, I shouldn’t be too hopeful. Three days ago, my wife gets a text message from Phil Markle of Thomas Markle Jewelers saying that the GMT II blue/black on jubilee has come in. She went later that day to pick up the watch. Of course I had no idea this was happening. She told me she had to work late that day and I had no reason not to believe her as she does from time to time. I come home Thursday late and she has a smile so big that if it was any bigger her face would rip. I asked her why she was so happy and she hands me a bag. The bag says Thomas Markle on it. Once I connected the dots, I was almost in disbelief!!!. I was telling my self, could it be what I’m thinking it is!!!. I would say 90% of the responses on my previous thread were go gray market and so I really thought I stood no chance. I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to the manager Phil Markle of Thomas Markle Jewelers in Memorial for going way out of his way to make it happen. It proved to me that there are some decent people out there who care about people and it’s not always about making more money. I really can’t say enough things about that man or the store as they changed my mind 180 degrees about Rolex dealers as my previous experience has not been good at all!. It was definitely the smoothest watch experience I have done. Thank you Phil!!!!. I will definitely be back!. |

Good for you! I had a bad experience with his dad 20 years ago and never went back. After a doctor’s appointment last year next door I stopped in and had a very nice visit with Phil. I told him I was happy with my current dealer but he told me he was always looking for new customers if things changed or I knew anyone looking.

That watch was meant for you! Enjoy it and props to your wife for being so persistent! That’s what it takes to get a Rolex nowadays.

Haha I tried getting her a watch and jewelry many times but she is not interested at all. She doesn’t like to wear any of that stuff. Her favorite thing is vacations. I promised her I would take her on one when Corona calms down a little.
