The RG/Olive is gorgeous, but having worn the Platinum DD I have to say it gets my vote. Just stunning in person.

I have to say that I felt a similar debate a few years back. I’d accumulated all sorts of SS and 2T models, and wanted to finally go PM. To me, not yet having one, there was only one that comes to most minds: a YG President (which you already have). So I got one, love it. It’s everything I wanted, but it’s not an easy watch to fly under-the-radar with. In fact, this factor alone can significantly limit where i wear it.

After a few years, I still found myself thinking about the elusive Platinum President (when I was a kid, the then-current 5-digit 18206s were essentially nonexistent, even here in south Orange County). I finally scratched the itch and added a 118206; even though they go for a (relative) premium, I find myself sneaking it into situations where a gold President never goes unnoticed. The dial color/choices, heft, domed bezel, and unique visual cues of platinum aide- just this fact alone makes it so much more wearable, even compared to the cheaper gold President it’s now stored next to, made the decision totally worth it for me. I should mention that my small wrists dictated that, outside of my professional models, only 36mm non-Sport models work for me.

Your’s, however, is slightly more nuanced. You’re not simply debating the addition of a second gold President; you’re considering two different size categories. When controlling for these multiple variables in your sample set (sounds like sociology) for these, I’d look at how the existing gold President would be affected by the addition of either of your choices. The RG choice would be very similar on a basic level (gold, fluted) but different in its portions to your YG 118238. The platinum 118206 would share the basic architecture of the YG one with totally unrelated colors of metal, colors of dial (everyone in the Rolex community equates glacier to platinum), different bezel profiles, etc.

3 questions that only you can answer:
• How much would you want your choice to contrast your existing coolection- particularly the other President you’ve already got?
• How cohesive society you want/need your collection to be/become?
• Would buying one leave you feeling that you still may need to “step up” or, as mentioned earlier, “graduate” to another President?

I would go with the DD40 Eversose. If it were the 228206 vs. the 228235 and money were no concern, I would say go with the 228206. The DD40 is really spectacular in its dimensions and I know that I personally wouldn’t be happy with the DD36.

Funny, I just went through this myself and sought the opinions of several TRF members (through DM though). Ultimately, I went with the 228235 and am very happy. I expect I’ll pick up the 228206 one day, but for now and with the nice discount I got, the 228235 just made more sense. Good luck to you! Either way it’ll be a winner.

Thats not a fair comparison.

I voted for 40mm plat DD40. If I knew it was a 36mm I would have voted for the RG one.

You actually got 2 variables here size and material which is going to skew your results.

Why are you comparing a 40mm RG and a 36mm Plat? It doesn't make sense. If your willing to buy a 40mm just compare the 40mm in both unless its purely based on price?

Actually, recently started getting interested in the 118206 myself platinum. I like the more traditional size. I have a 7 inch wrist if that matters.

I really enjoy the diamond pattern motif dials, I would love to have a gold case/black motif dial DD. I think the platinum has more prestige and pop, but my eyes prefer the rose gold/olive, its very elegant and i love rose gold

My budget is ~$35,000 for the next watch and I’m not willing to go higher than that, which takes the 40mm platinum out of the picture.

40 vs 40, I love the green which looks, to my eyes, as more of a gray except under precise lighting when the green really comes out. I'm just not into the motif dials or the 36mm size.

I voted for the Platinum but like the green dial. The best of both worlds maybe the WG Green dial version. A beautiful watch.

Hard to beat the classic, timeless look of a fluted bezel. Never been a fan of smooth bezels.

The DD Rose Gold is just such an attractive watch. Normally I'm a SS or white gold/platinum guy but on this one the RG just really wows!

Big fan of RG here, but given the above choices, Platinum with glacier.

I have a ddii plat pave dial and rose gold 40 choc baguette dial

I’d go for rose gold any day of the week especially with that olive dial, it’s warm, smooth and pops..... platinum is hefty and feels special cause you know what it is but from pure looks rose gold not even a question to me
