Rolex Explorer 2 Bracelet - EXTENSION?

I have no idea what this "extension" or if it even is an extension.

Can someone help me as to why this is here within the bracelet?

Right now I need to fold it up in the bracelet. But I'm so confused as to why it is there or what it is for?

I have attached 3 pics. (2) showing the extension and (1) showing it folded into the clasp.

Looks like you have a 93150 bracelet. This was used on the Subs. It’s a dive extension. The correct bracelet for the Explorer would be 78790 or 78360 depending on the version. These bracelets and pieces are interchangeable, so it could’ve just been swapped around.

The 93150 extension bracelet was an option for both the Explorer II and the GMT models. It is as correct as any other bracelet used on these models.

The idea is the same as for Divers who use the extension to go over a dive suite, climbers often wear their watch over their outer clothing in order to see the time without digging in their clothes for it.

When the extension blades are folded inside, the rivet between them will snap into the second set of holes in the clasp. That is why there are two sets of holes
