too many alarm bells ringing for eg precious metal hallmarks, 2 tone-ness, 6 oclock logo alignments and font, oyster perpetual alignment and font

A little? Holy moly! With respect, if that watch only looks a little off to your eye you really shouldn't be buying high end watches from anyone other than an authorized dealer.
