Back in 2018 I walked in to an AD and walked out with the blue oyster 126300 for $6k out the door. After all these years that’s still one of the most worn and top 3 watches I have. To me, it’s even better than the usual high end steel watches. Maybe the 904l is really special.

I’ve got this impression too. Who knows if it is right, but does feel that way sometimes based on incomings.

Just received my silver dial fluted jubilee from AD in about 2 months, AD seemed surprised it came before 6 months.

I also ended up getting an IWC as a gift from my wife because Rolex had nothing.

Very happy with the IWC.

Wow, didn’t realise that getting a SS DJ was such a long wait, seems bizarre that late in 2019 I had the choice of three sitting on the desk, two out of the window and one moved between stores for me.

The world really has turned in the last couple of years.

Well, and this was a very attractive young woman with (to American ears) a charming accent and a heartstring-pulling occasion for making the purchase. Point is: if she might have to wait 5 months, a chump like me wouldn't stand of much of a chance for 2022 at all.

But yes, as others have said, it's all highly variable and reference/configuration-specific, and such anecdotes are of limited use.
