DJ wait time (overheard at AD today)

Just passing along some up-to-the-moment intel.

Was handing in a watch for service at an AD today and overheard an SA speaking with a customer who walked in hoping to collect a BLNR for her husband. She clearly wasn’t aware of the current situation with Rolex, and the SA was extremely courteous but honest with her. She was planning to get the watch to give him for an October birthday (though I think she expected to get it right there and then today): the SA said that couldn’t happen. He then guided her to the DJs, and said October was possible for one of those, but even then, no guarantee. (In the end, I think she went to the IWC counter.)

So it seems like men’s DJs are around 5 months these days.

She needs to walk over to the Omega counter and walk out with a great watch for about half the price

Seems reasonable to believe that one can buy a watch, when entering a watch store with display models

This particular AD doesn’t do Omega.

Thanks for sharing but extremely anecdotal and many variables affect wait time. AD size/allocation, purchase history, store policy for allocation, etc.

It is completely random really. “Ordered” 41mm and 36mm DJ Wimbledon with oyster bracelet and fluted bezels 3 weeks ago. Both came in today.

Totally. Just sharing what I heard in the spirit of more info is better than less.

Does anyone else get the sense that they are released in "batches".. For example, you'll see a lot of Wimbledon dials incoming for a few weeks, then maybe a lot of Starbucks, then some rhodium/slate dials, etc and so on.. When I was hunting down my first, I was waiting on a white dial and it seemed others got there's around a similar time before that they were nearly impossible...

I waited for 6mos for mine DJ 41 silver/ fluted + Jubilee. 6-12mos wait seems reasonable.

Yeah DJs were the last “slight premium mark up” at greys, but now, gone girls

Depends on the configuration you want and if you’re flexible. And of course demand.

DJ wait time (overheard at AD today)

That moment when you open the "Rolex" gift box and find an IWC inside...

Any deals on these yet? They are such a great daily wear but I just can't seem to keep one for long... maybe the $10-11k was the issue. $7k might make it stick

Smaller market ad in Virginia. Really just got lucky. They had just gotten it and started making calls to sell it. I walked in within an hour or so of it being available. It was the only watch the had in the case.

Or, not buy a watch that they don't actually want.

I think it depends on many factors. Granted anecdotes aren't representative of the majority or even the average experience, but I have a buddy who got a BLNR on jubilee literally a week after cold-calling a BIG AD in socal.

As for me, I've been searching for what I thought would be a very easy one to source - TT (rosegold) 36mm DJ fluted jubilee with white dial stick markers - for my wife for almost a year. Who knew that a tt dj was so hard to locate???? I called 4 different AD's and they would get something similar (white dial, but smooth and oyster, or fluted, jubilee but with MOP dial and diamond markers), but never the one that was exactly what my wife wanted.

After a year without any success, I was literally about to give up hope when I happened to just walk into that same store and found an almost the same watch I've been looking for (except with the palm dial). The SA said it's yours (or rather my wife's) if I want it. And I said "YES!" because who knows when I'll ever get that exact combo....and in my opinion, the palm dial looked so much better than a white dial.

Anyways, from my, and my buddy's experience, a TT DJ was waaaaaay harder to get than a BLNR on jubilee

Was on my local AD "interest list" for more than a year in Singapore, yet no DJ in sight. Been following up with the SA quarterly and always the same answer. Until early May when i saw multiple grey dealer market has the same configuration model im looking for not 1, not 2, but at least 4 timepiece stated brand new sticker intact, from local AD.

That the moment i knew i probably never getting 1 at retail price. Next day went down to get it from grey at 5k premium on top of the MSRP.
