Is the normally some movement in bezels? (and a weird sound)

Hi guys,

14060M

Today when I was cleaning my watch, I noticed a quiet sound when I ran my cloth/finger pressure along the bezel.

It sounded to me like there was a tiny pocket of air underneath the black aluminum bezel piece. (like it was coming off the main part of the bezel)

Moving my finger back and forth I could replicate it.

Upon further inspection, I noticed that I could noticeably lift up on the entire bezel, and push it back down. This was verified by watching the small clearance gap between the bezel and watch body.
I was doing this by lifting with my fingernail on one end of the bezel.

I mean, it was moving only the tiniest amount... but I could perceive it.

Does this indicate any common problems?

Thanks!

I agree, I just checked mine as I was reading this post. It almost sounds like a slight click. There has to be some give there or the bezel can't rotate as posted above. I think that you'll find this is totally normal.

Ok, thanks guys!

Is there any adhesive holding down the black face of the bezel? I heard it was just a press fit. Maybe I'll keep and eye on mine....

J,
Someone with more know how than I will probably be better equipped to answer but I do believe that it's just a press fit. The noise you're hearing though is from the bezel itself rocking not the bezel - bezel insert fit correct? There should be no movement between the bezel insert and the bezel itself.

I just re read your original post and it's confusing as to wether you're talking about the bezel to bezel insert having movement or the bezel to watch case having movement. The first one could be spelling trouble, the second one I believe is normal.

Sounds Like he's talking about the insert and being aluminuim and subject to some flex I imagine it is possible to have the condition If the insert is not 100% true

The bezel is actually slightly loose which is needed to allow it to be rotated with minimal force. The slight play you noticed is very normal and present in all subs.

It does appear to get more noticeable as the more the watch is used so with age you will notice it more but again, this is normal and not a problem.

Not sure Ed, I can read the OP's post both ways, not quite sure which the OP is talking about. Like I said movement of just the bezel is okay, not so much if it's the insert into the bezel.
How's your 114060 been treating you?
