Does this mean you can no longer do bezel insert changes?

The Explorer bezel is not an insert the whole bezel is one piece and has to be exchanged for a new one if damaged or worn out. I can still get inserts just not bezels. Rikki

Rolex Explorer II 16570 Bezel Refinish
Hello,
My Rolex Explorer II 16570 F-series Polar is at Dallas RSC for an overhaul and crystal replacement at this moment. They are currently awaiting my approval to proceed. I specifically asked the service advisor if the bezel will be refinished and was told "sir, the entire case and bracelet will be refinished." I need a definite answer as to whether or not they have the tools to refinish the bezel to its original "starburst". I am already spending a small fortune having my Explorer II serviced. I cannot find any links on this forum in regards to this simple question. May I have your professional opinion, please? Thank you. Last edited by iatrimble; 11 February 2013 at 12:44 AM.. I would say if you have the option to replace it, do it. $255 is not bad if that is indeed the price. As mentioned above by Rikki, Rolex doesn't distribute bezels to independent watchmakers with parts account. If you're watch is already with Rolex, I say replace it. I will be sending mine in sometime in the distant future because I will want the bezel replaced and only for that reason. It sucks that I'll have to pay for a full service just to get it done but that's just the way it is.

Yes mine was pretty deep,255 for a new bezel doesnt sound bad.Though total will be approx $1000 for full overhaul and some issue with winding crown.

Authentic bezels in varying condition do pop up for sale from time to time here and on other forums. If a watch owner sourced the bezel on his/her own, it could be installed by other than RSC and without being obligated to get a full service. It seems alot of these pieces come from Europe where presumably, the Rolex stranglehold on parts is not as tight.

Totally...but the bezels I've seen pop up are used and in fair condition...and prices seem to be about doubled what a new one would cost from Rolex. Granted, with Rolex, they won't replace your bezel without a full service. But unless I find a NOS bezel at retail, I'll probably just pay more and send it in for a fully documented service and pay for the bezel.

I'll let Rikki answer that but I've heard that Rolex no longer releases the LV insert outside of RSC. It needs to go to RSC for a replacement. At least in the USA. Europe may be different.

Have you tried Cape and Co. on eBay? ( http://stores.ebay.com/Cape-and-Co )
I have needed Rolex parts and was able to get them quickly from them. I don't see the LV bezel on eBay but you may give them a call.

Howdy Lv's have never been available to independent watch makers with parts account. There are some policies I don't agree with but, it's not up to me I don't make the rules. Rik

Thanks for the clarification. And I've heard Rolex charges several hundred $$ for the LV insert vs. the standard rate for the black insert, usually under $100.

Before and after photos are always a good idea when it comes to refining.

Hy
When you want to post a picture from your own hard drive, you'll need to use the Attachments icon (small paperclip icon) instead of the Insert Image icon. Insert Image works when the picture is on a website somewhere like Photobucket or Flickr. But not when the picture is on you own computer. When you click the Attachements icon, the forum software will open a new small dialog window where you can choose the photo from your Pictures folder (like: \Users\Hy\Pictures\2013-03-09) Then click Upload and your picture will be part of your post... Hope that helps.
