Any "other" GMT watch comparable to the GMT Master II
I own the BLNR, and love it.
I'm thinking to slowly start collecting luxury watches. I really love the Rolex line up, but there are other great watch brands, too. I really love the idea of a GMT watch, so I'm wondering if there are any that are comparable to the GMT Master II. I'm fairly new to watches, so defer to the opinion of my peers. A few that come to my mind are: Grand Seiko Breitling Navitimer GMT / Colt GMT / Avenger GMT Omega Planet Ocean Sinn Glycine Airman |

I like the Breitling Emergency Mission .. A friend has one for sale and he let me look at it .. It's a super cool watch .. Not a GMT, but your mention of Breitling made me think of my friend's watch.

I got to try on the RG Sky Dweller with the leather strap .. Really nice watch, and really heavy

GMT is by far my favorite complication. In my view, the answer to the OP's question is a definitive "no".

Panerai 1088 / 161 (if you want titanium with case and bracelet)
or Pam 320 / 321 (if you want an added PR indicator) Easy to read the time and easy to set the GMT hand |

do you want an actual GMT or a dual time watch? IMO i prefer dual time however my GMT II will always be in my collection.

Any "other" GMT watch comparable to the GMT Master II
IMO every Rolex collection should have at least 1 classic 5 digit reference. Since you are saying no to another GMT Master II. Which would be the classic 16710. I say add a 16570. It fits your preference for a GMT watch. I actually prefer the 16570 over the 116570.

I’m not saying no to another GMT Master or the Explorer II. But, I’d just like to know what else is out there that is a worthy contender. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My GMT Master is an early 1959 model with Tritium. I have never done a comparison, as the model is very old. As far as the CW is concerned, it seems good enough lume in use. Obviously bigger indexes would make a difference, but I am not a diver needing those.

I have a GMTIIc LN and there is plenty of room for my Panerai 233 which is a rather different GMT. 12 hour GMT hand with an AM/PM indicator (the dot in my case) and jumping hour. It wears smaller than the other three digit models due to the big domed sapphire.

Spend time getting yourself up to speed on what all’s out there, on Chrono24.
Look at the likes of: Chopard L.U.C. Pro One Cadence Blancpain Fifty Fathoms GMT Ulysse Nardin GMT 243-55 — if you love lume, then you won’t look at anything else! No doubt you’ll see others such as Fortis, Ebel, Carl F. Bucherer, etc. |

I kind of like the PAM320, if you’re fond of Panerai cases. I’m a fan of simple GMT mechanisms, others feel cluttered or over the top to me. 300m WR, in-house movement, 3 day power reserve.....it’s a solid piece and aside from the larger case size, is really low key (for traveling) with the matte dial and basic layout.
Below is a pic comparing the 320 vs 233. I highly suggest you see the 233 in person. I’m not a fan of the domed crystal whatsoever, I think it looks childish. Others love it though, only my opinion. |

I also love GMT complications. I spent a long time looking for the best implementation, and I inevitably ended up with a Rolex (BLNR specifically). IMO nothing beats it. I feel bad because I've hardly worn anything else since I bought it about a year ago.
That said, the other GMT/dual time watch I'm taking a serious look at is the Nomos Zurich Weltzeit. It's dressier, has a leather strap and not much water resistance, so it's definitely not as versatile as the Rolex, but it's so nice. I'd post a photo, but apparently I don't have photo privileges on this forum yet. |

Here's my Topper Edition with white lacquer dial and blue hands (one of 30 made) the blue hands really show in this pic where it's sandwiched between my BLNR and Daytona |

I have had the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT for about 2 years now. Absolutely love it. Amazing quality, tough as nails and a really interesting movement.
Highly recommend it. Reference is 232.30.44.22.03.001. https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-o...3230442203001/ |
