Most comfortable submariner reference?

*Sorry for possibly a redundant question but I couldn’t find the thread that really answered this.*

As the title suggests I am looking for a pre-ceramic submariner to daily wear on my 6.5” wrist.  I recently bought a 114060 and though I do love it it is on the cusp of too big/heavy to wear daily.

I have been looking at all references from 1680 (white dial) all the way through to the 16610 I don't want to spend over $13,000 so the Red Submariner references are out of the question and since I already have a no-date sub I think I want one with a date complication now.

Any suggestions!?

How about a 16610LN without lug holes? They are good looking watches and will come with the SELs.

is 114060 much heavier than 14060M ? I have Tudor BB58 and its pretty light on my wrist. Right now I am look into 114060 until I read this post.

Yes it's a bit heavier but the glidelock clasp can save the day so I'd say go for it.

My 116610LN became worlds more comfortable once I put it on a RubberB strap with OEM bracelet deployment clasp. IMO the rubber is much more comfortable than steel plus there was a significant reduction in weight.

I am definitely looking into the RubberB strap for the 1140690. I really like the watch and the glidelock so do want to keep the watch. The rubber strap might help with that.

I was thinking of a vintage watch from the 80's (I was born in 82) but the prices seem steep (I know that's all relative) so perhaps the 14060M is the way to go!

I have a 6.75" wrist and find the 14060M w/ stock bracelet very comfortable. It is not at all heavy and it looks proportional to my arm. I am looking forward to the next re-design which should have slimmer lugs and all the modern features of the 114060 like glidelock and chromalight, but I think I will still hang on to my 14060m, I like it so much.

There's an active thread right now where the OP just bought a SD4k because he thought it was more comfortable than a 6 digit sub. Also with a 6.5 - 6.75 wrist.

They are all comfy but the new maxi case works best for my 7.75 in wrist.

I would be tempted to look at the GMT 5 digit if you like a pre ceramic with date but comfort is an issue.
I have the 14060M and love it, but the comfort of the gmt is better. Smaller crown which never digs into the hand, less weight (opinion, not weighed) and slightly more streamlined.
You can also switch out the black insert for a Pepsi or coke!

I have the new styles and the older
The most comfortable was the 1680 in my opinion.
Since then the rolexes have gone besides my explorer 2
I dive in this, which is comfortable

I am lucky to own a 1680, 14060M and a 116610. They all wear very well on my 6.75 wrist, but if you want the lightest option then I would suggest you try the 4 digit references. My 1680 certainly feels lighter (and more flimsy) than the two later models. As an aside, a couple of years back I had the opportunity to try on all the ceramic Sub, Seadweller and Deepsea models back-to-back in an AD. The most comfortable for me was the 114060....which I believe is the one you already own.

This is very intriguing! I’m a diver so I liked the history (wouldn’t dive in the vintage submariner) of the sub, but I do love the look of the vintage Pepsi and Coke GMT’s! Thanks!

AND...... then you could keep the sub you have. Watches are strange in my experience. I always used to sell to enable me to buy the next one I thought I loved. Boy I do have some mild regrets! The Pepsi is so beautiful, and extremely comfortable. I would say the easiest watch to wear that I own.
