I would. I tried on a 40 DD on a recent trip to Maui (Wailea) and it's a REALLY nice watch. And very practical. Everything you need to know, right there. I love the Daytona and have considered one but the thing is, for a great looking watch, it's hard to read and if you don't need or use the chrono functions... On the other hand the lack of day to day adjustability of the president bracelet might be an issue. The new bracelets are really solid though and feel great.

Trade Daytona for Day Date 40?

I would. I don’t care how hot this SS trend is, put on a PM piece and there’s no going back...Coming from a guy who has 2 SS’s and 2 PM’s.

I got the Daytona at MSRP. Keep it or trade up?
I've always thought that the driving forces of a trade are:

-which watch do you really want, and
-if you change your mind and want to go back, how much would it hurt you.

Big fan of the WG/Olive DD here, but, it concerns me that you say you love your Daytona. Never, ever trade away or sell a watch you love. I speak from experience.

The DD would be awesome. I would do it.

The Daytona is your grail but you plan on flipping it right away? I just don’t understand.

Interesting question... You cannot get the answer from us, it has to be all your thought. From the $ side of this, everyone here chiming in will have a different perspective so their opinion to you is based on their perspective. For example on this site you have multi-millionaires hanging with recent college grads who just bought their first watch, and everything in between. No doubt the friend who just sold his business for 100 mil, thinks differently about a 20/30k watch from the guy who makes 40k a year and has a Rolex he inherited and doesn't even care that much about. So with everyones thought patterns different, all any of us can help you with is making a financial decision based on OUR frame of reference and income level. Clearly you will get a skewed result of opinions that may or may not match your $ situation. NOW, on the love of watch side of things, it starts all over! Some guys are SS only, period, some PM only. Some want both but can't afford it, some not sure what they want. See, it goes all over the board again. I suggest you just daydream for a week about it and go where your LOVE OF WATCHES leads you, based on your $ situation. *****Going to back to what others said, You currently have a SS White faced Daytona, arguably the hottest watch on the planet at this point, do you love wearing it??? If not, then follow to what you do love. IF you really think it is YOUR grail watch you should NOT consider selling just to upgrade to PM, that action will have regret ALL OVER IT. Save, or trade something that isn't grail status for the next watch, you will have to wait, but then you will have TWO great watches you love. Yes, PM is a different feel on many of the senses. One of my fav to wear is my 116519, white gold Daytona. Sorry to muddy the water more, I meant to help. Good luck!

Do it as long as the Daytona prices are insane - the Day Date 40 is a piece of art

the questions is how much you going to pay on top of the Daytona? if it's 1-1 trade; then this is a very sweet deal. Go for it.

I have been a SS only consumer all my life and at 53 I just acquired a DD40 RG w a white dial/Roman numerals. It is the perfect balance of opulence and elegance. I have never been more in love with a watch!!!!

My collection by frequency of use for reference -

IWATCH
BLNR
SS Sky-dweller blue
DJ 41 Blue
SS Daytona white

On an even trade go for it. The Daytona will be worth more money down the road and would be tough to replace at this time. So its tough to know and feel good about it.

Yes. The DD is a nicer watch. I’ve stopped wearing anything else. There’s no beating the pres bracelet
