My year of Rolex

It would be nice to hear stories of some special year which you had with Rolex hobby, please share

Here’s mine, 2017:

I got into Rolex in the beginning of this year, began to understand the brand and what Rolex watches really are. I got hyped right away when i saw so many references i really like. I started to lurk around TRF and joined, it has been hobby time since that day. Even that i come from Switzerland i was amazed about this wide culture around Rolex. And on the top this huge positive mind set this community has. I feel priviledged to find this, thank you once again.

I started to check and get deeper knowledge of different Rolexes, totally felt i have some serious catching up to do. And the result is that at the time i have 7 Rolexes and one Tudor.

First i got Explorer II:
Precise, practical watch which is very comfortable. Has taken most of the wrist time and has been thru many situations with me so far. It is about reliability and being under the radar.

Right after i had Deepsea Blue:
It is engineering art and first months i looked at it more than i had it on my wrist. Wears comfortably and feels like ultimate watch in terms of reliability.

Then i had my BLNR:
I just love the colours as blue and black both have special meaning to me. Like positive and upscale Explorer II.

It was time for Sky-Dweller Blue:
Complication, blue beauty and top technology of Rolex was irresistable. Comfortable and always so beautiful to look at. Exceeded all my expectations.

AirKing:
I wanted AirKing to be foundation of my engraving project. It is ready in the early 2018 and i will get back to that then.

Pelagos LHD:
I actually bought it as gift to my friend from army times. But he past away in accident 1 week before i was suppose to give it to him. So it is not an actual incoming to me, i do not know how should i handle it.

Then i got the Daytona C:
Classic, a technological sculpture, so much history. It is very clear to read and i really get enthusiastic when driving mountain roads with Daytona on my wrist

And the Platinum DD40 got into my life:
This one is incredible. It has so much watch in it, more than a watch. It feels perfect from the moment i pick it up and slip on my wrist. It is cold but due to high thermal conductivity it starts ’melting’ on wrist and feels amazing. The fact that platinum is not lost during wear or scratches feels good, it just changes it’s form. Precision is +4 seconds in 9 days. All so smooth, a real grail to me.

Scatola del Tempo:
I wanted a good watch box and found extremely good deal and got this 4 slot + 3 winder slot version. Feels good :j

In my case this all happened a bit fast, but it is kind of how i tend to do things if i am enthusiastic about something.

Thank you all.

Well I have wanted a Rolex for a while..and was kind if waiting to buy a sub...I was set on a Tt sub.
After reading this forum and watching many u tube video
...I saw the hype about the sd43...started looking around in Canada and London UK so see if I could see it in hands..of course nobody has it.
A few days before my 44 th b-day. .I walk into my AD just a little store and ask about the SD 43..and here she has it in the back. ..my last few days of being 43..yrs old..I just bought the Sd43...I thought that was cool
What are the odds for me to find this rare watch...did 7 AD from Vancouver to London UK. And found it 5km from my house.

Last year I got a fortis ...when it showed up...the serial number was my day and month of birth... I should buy a watch at every b.day or a lottery ticket. . that would be cheaper..
