I think the owner left it dirty to use the dirt to give the bracelet a more solid feeling. I bet with all that dirt in there it probably helps support the bracelet and you won't see too much bracelet flex!

Some shower soaps and shampoos/conditioner will actually build up residue in the crevices. I prefer Dawn and water in a sink. Dish soap rinses clean and breaks down body oils/grime etc. Some soaps are made to "moisturize" the skin. Not good for a metal watch, IMO

Looks like this was recovered from an archeological dig somewhere.
I could see something that looks like that in a museum in a thousand years. Ancient jewelry circa late 20th century recovered from deep in a jungle somewhere. Mine get a bit dirty from time to time, but that’s a whole new level.
