Rolex Buying experience

I had decided to buy a Rolex Datejust 36.

In went to my local AD to order a watch they stated that I had to pay 20% deposit, they had no idea when or even if the watch would be available and that if the price increased before the watch became available then I would be charged the higher price.

The local AD were fine with me but I assume they are constrained by Rolex business practices.

I decided to pass on ordering the watch.

As has been noted, Australia is awful for trying to buy Rolex.

That may be the problem with Canberra. Right shame as my local AD isn’t anything like this

I’m in Canberra to man, getting anything at WOS is a nightmare.

I had a great experience at crown in Perth. WOS took my expression of interest but I didn’t expect to hear back. Crown got my my SS model within one month. I had bought a speedmaster from them one year prior so maybe that helped. All in though they were great

Sounds like a good way to reserve it . You won’t be waiting long till you got the call. fwiw a UK AD asked me the same thing to get the same. I didn’t hesitate to pay

It is not that bad in HK. I was there last June and saw all colors of DJ and DJ41, plus a few number of PM sport.

No joke? Everytime I perused there it was picked way worse than states!

Add Japan to the list. They wont even put you on a waiting list here, tell you to come to the store as often as you can is the only thing you can do.

Funnily enough all the grey market dealers I spoke to said they get most of their watches from HK.

Exactly, HK has long been known as a major watch supplier in my opinion. Those dealers have been funneling them out way before this hype game started.

Honestly Asia as a whole has become pretty sparse, tough times.
