It’s possible, but the DJ is more classic Rolex where you can have jubilee and fluted with more classic dual colours.

The OP may take a few sales away but is likely aimed at a slightly different audience.

While I don’t like all the colours, I think the OP’s will do really well esp at the price point.

I don't think it will, you either want a date or you don't. I don't think the size will change that.

Impossible. The Datejust is the best selling Rolex in the world.
What happens on the forum is another matter, but this is not the real world.

Eventually the OP 39 could have affected the DJ41, that despite the code (Datejust 41) has a real case diameter of 39.5 mm.
In my opinion the Oyster Perpetual and the Datejust are simply different types of watches and each od them has its own pluses and minuses

it will likely cannibalize dj with lower price point and dial color offerings, Rolex can afford it for now as almost all SS DJ are in high demand so the impact is minimal. Rolex definitely hopes the OP will add new customers in stead of at the expense of DJ.

For sure the new OP line will eat a piece of the DJ41 pie.

I have a feeling we can expect some changed to the DJ41 line very soon. More dial options, maybe even a bigger case again

If someone doesn’t want to pay the datejust price tag it is a nice option. If someone was going to buy a datejust, they wouldn’t buy the OP instead. Datejust is dressier, OP is sportier. Great watches.

They just changed it and added the new movement. You won’t see a movement change for 10 years. Datejust stays true to form and won’t go any bigger for a dress watch. Dial options yes, always happens. I bet you will see the blue with TT. Would be a hit.

I don't think so. We saw a larger DJ already. And the DJII was not popular. More dials? Definitely. I think if those bright OP dials sell well, they might add one or two to DJ.

I honestly don’t think the average customer thinks that way. They want a nice looking Rolex first and foremost. I think the blue OP41 could knock a few sales off the blue DJ41. Likewise with the black and silver.

As a DJ41 customer (in the near future) the OP41 has certainly turned my head a bit.

I think it will affect it, or at least you will more easily obtain the semi hard to get DJs now (e.g. blue dial)

I'm positive the success of the new OP will mean a price increase of 1000 USD/EUR within 1 year. It's too similar to a Datejust, only the date complication is missing. But it has everything else.

OP 36/41 will have an effect on the smooth bezel + oyster DJs especially with the colorful dials. However, new OP is really geared towards younger buyers and folks looking for new colors so maybe not. I probably go for the OP 36. A better question is OP 36 better buy than Tudor BB 58 now?

I think it does. Basically the OP is like a Nodatejust. And for much less and now attractive color options.

DJ is the winner for me
The new OP is not a first rolex imho but a “fun” addition while the DJ can live by itself !

Not sure, the DJ with fluted bezel and jubilee feels more substantial, kind of on a different level TBH.

Does anyone own the new OP41 and DJ41? If so, can you confirm if they are the same size and wear similar on the wrist?

Same. If the Date Just had an all brushed bracelet, I wouldn't be so upset the OP39 is discontinued.

I just want a Rolex that doesn't scream "hey look at me, I'm a shiny flashy watch." The OP was perfect for that, but now you have bigger dials and kool-aid colors.

Yes but I would not want the kool-aid invicta colors and would miss the date .

I think they have different appeal. OP is a much cleaner, uncluttered look in general. Easy to dress down, and more "fun" colors. I think the DJ is still the ultimate dress/casual dress watch. Should be more than enough room in the market for both IMO
