Why all the TT Daytona hate?

I'm getting ready to buy my first rolex. Before joining this forum my favorite rolex was the TT daytona with the black dial. After doing research on here I see alot of TT hate, specifically at the TT daytona. Why does everyone seem to hate this specific watch so much?

I believe it is because it doesn't has a resell value as high as a SS. It would drop in value pretty fast. Plus the MSRP price is higher than the SS. You rarely would see a famous personality wear a TT. Expect the Daytona 24 winners. The ones who have them and enjoy it. I believe if John Mayer had one it would get a bit famous;)

Unlike other two tone professional models, the two tone Daytona is a bit more bold given the lack of a bezel insert. It’s a lot of gold. Two tone Subs and GMTs seem more subtle in comparison.

For me personally, for some reason the TT Daytona just doesn't do it for me. I'm not too fond of how it looks. I cannot explain why since I love TT on the Submariner, GMT and the DJ. I also am a big fan of the Daytona watch in general in SS and in full gold, but not in TT.

We can share our opinions and our thoughts with you, but if you like it and it "sings" to you......I say go for one! Ultimately, it doesn't matter what we think or how many haters there are. Go for the watch you like and the one that you will enjoy the most!

Maybe your old now and don't know they are cool again almost 30 years later? Or maybe I'm too poor to afford a gold daytona :(

TT Daytona owner here. I would choose TT again over SS. It really depends what you want the watch to do for you and diversity of your collection. I've got other SS pieces worn more frequently like my SubC date and GMTC LN.

When deciding on the TT Daytona, its attention grabbing aesthetics and wider range of dial options over the SS was a key factor. When I choose to wear my TT Daytona instead of the more versatile SS Sub and GMT, which is not very often; I'm looking to make a statement. The TT does not whisper.

Of course there are others who simply prefer the SS Daytona but TT owners present and future should not feel stigmatized for their choice.

Coming back to the point about better dial options, my champagne-faced Daytona is at RSC and will be fitted with the white/black Panda dial that will raise the Daytona 'quotient'. Its a three-month job with most of the time waiting for the new dial to be shipped from Geneva. Looking forward to its new look.

Don’t think ther are a lot of hate on TT. Most people tend to ask SS vs TT, which most will gravitate towards SS. If you ask SS vs full gold, most will say SS... it’s not even close.

Dont be a sheep like most people out there looking to buy a Rolex. There are way too many guys who have this false pretense that Rolex's are tool watches and that anything with gold in it is not a real tool watch. Whether it be TT or Full Gold.

Rolex has moved away from being a tool watch decades ago. TT is one of their best selling products hence the introduction of the TT SD43 in this years Basel.

People on this forum make up a tiny market of the actual Rolex customers. TT is THE best value for money right now when compared to SS.

Usually SS vs full PM is not even a discussion as the price point a big difference.

No TT hate here. I love my TT CHNR and my TT Sub but I just prefer the Daytona in SS or PM

Why would you care about how people see your watch?
You like it , buy it and wear it with joy.
It is a Daytona : the top notch of Rolex, most of the people you will encounter won’t even notice what it is.
TT black are gorgeous.
Also their price is very reasonable.
A great choice.
Let us know your final decision.

Ditto, “No TT hate here”. I love my TT Daytona, and my TT GMT II. You’ll love it. Forget the haters. Buy it and enjoy it.

I love TT, but I don't like TT Daytona. I think it comes down to the fact that I don't like metal colored bezel on Daytonas. Which explains why I like old Daytonas with black acrylic inlay and modern Ceramics. If TT Daytona was to come out with ceramic bezel, it would change it a lot for me.

Wait until they put a ceramic bezel on it, that should do the trick.

My wife is lusting after the TT daytona Champaign dial. White dial TT also looks killer on her. It’s a great way to get into daytona and a great ladies watch given its more slender appearance and added bling of the TT. The daytona in TT I don’t think is a good look for a man although it is a cheap way to get into one. Personally I wouldn’t wear one

I got the exact watch and I love it. If what you like doesnt hurt anyone, there's only one course of action, do it.
