Anybody Got A discount On A Patek.....Vs Rolex

Paid full MRRP this time but for future reference possible to make a comparision to Rolex? as an example solid gold rolex on a croc strap less 25% would a Patek 5146 be a good comparison also readily available but.........how would this play out from a fiscal viewpoint

regards

steve

Steve, did you pick up a 5146? I'm kind of confused by your post.

If I were to compare a solid gold Rolex to a 5146, the 5146 would win everytime, due to the finer craftsmanship of the case, dial, movement, and complication.

I can get the 5146 for about 5% less than list.

Hi Lee,

No i ordered the 5167/1A Aquanaut, I was just curious purely from a fiscal point of view, the 5146 being it would seem as readily available but ADs not willing to as heavilly discount as Rolex Ad's [25%]no real comparision to the pieces except being a high end solid gold piece there worth personal to the individual. it would seem that Patek AD's have a belief in the product[or market forces] and it's worth the sticker price and move very little.Trying to get my head round why 2 solid gold pieces sit in the window but an AD is only willing to discount on the Rolex

Okay gotcha.

PP has an even stricter policy on discounts and distribution than Rolex. Discounts are offered to repeat customers on their more available pieces such as the 5146, but pieces such as the 5167/5, 5711, and higher complications are generally available only at list.

Perhaps there is more of a mark up with a Rolex then a PP.
Or as Lee has stated PP are more strict on then discounting in the UK.
The reason why I ay that, is becaue last weel I was over in Spain and I was offered between 20 - 25% discount on a 5140!!!!!
Now that could be just because of a tax issue, I don't know.
IMO though a 5146 is generally more available it is a far more complicated a model then a
5167 and cannot be compared with each other.
Steve good luck and I' gad that you have made a decision. How long have you got to wait?
By the way I saw a new 5960 yesterday, at an AD waiting to be collected.
