If you want investment put 200K in AMZN. I would Select PP over VC....but at that price point I would go 5370 new or 5970p if you have to have a PCC

I wouldn’t spend 20K let alone 200k on a Vacheron

5270 unless you want to turn 200k into 100k when you sell. Then buy the VC.
I’d rather the ALS PLM tourbillon in that range, personally. |

Not sure how the VC looks like, so went to the website for a quick look. The first thing that drew my attention was the large power reserve at the top, and noted the somewhat useful standby mode (twin beat).
That said, nothing beats the salmon. |

If forced to blow $200K on toys I’d buy a Hajime Asaoka Tourbillion and upgrade my C2S tp a 911R. :)

If I was going to spend 200k on a toy I'd find myself a mate and pool funds to share a Guimbal Cabri G2 rather than continuing to rent this fun piece of equipment...

Definitely not the VC - a good way to cut $200k in half if you ever change your mind. With $200k, go 5070P and have some left over for something else or skip straight to a 5970P. Can’t go wrong with those two...

Are there other options or does it have to be one of these? Im not sure Id drop $200k on either of these watches. But if it had to be either or i’d go for the 5270P

Given the budget there is only one brand worth considering and that is Patek Philippe.

I can't imagine spending 200K on a watch. But then, just 5 years ago, I can't imagine spending 20K on a watch.
I need to quit this hobby.

I personally wouldn't currently spend that on amount on a single watch and if I did it likely would not be one of those. That written, if forced to choose between these two, I'd choose the Patek because, while I like VC in general and admire the technology in that particular watch, I prefer conservative, classic looking pieces, specifically chronographs and moonphase calendars.

In the current market the VC will take a huge hit, as they all do. The only choice here is the 5270P.

VC is a technically superior watch with the 65 day power reserve in stand by mode and instantaneous perpetual calendar. Only 3 Pateks on the current catalogue has an instantaneous perpetual calendar.

It would be a profound error in judgment to make decisions based on the “technicially superior” criteria when it comes to luxury wristwatches.

I wouldn't buy one watch, I would buy 5-6 Patek's in the 35-55k price range.
But I all reality, the gray market price of the 5711 will probably be hitting 200k by next year. |
