Patek 5270P

I was wondering if anyone has seen or been offered a 5270P?

There’s a few members that have one. They should be by soon to enable you

Several have been offered one. They aren’t hard to source but damn they are beautiful

Yes, I was offered and bought a 5270p. It is a beautiful watch, and one I wear regularly. It's great for suits as well as jeans.

PCC is Patek's bread and butter along with their minute repeaters, cannot go wrong with any of them. Platinum with golden dial is also able to be dressed up and down, great proportions, it's really a stunning watch to have on your wrist.

I was concerned with the watch holding its value. Some grey dealers and watch websites have indicated the watch is available and 10% less than MSRP.

Just don't want to get hurt, as I typically buy preowned and not new.

So far, the 5270p has held up fairly well in the secondary market. If a $187k dress watch is offered near MSRP (I've seen some well above and some at or slightly below), that's pretty good in my book. With that said, I've heard from several ADs (near larger cities) that there are waiting lists for this piece.

At the end of the day, no one wants to take a hit. Like any watch (Nautilus and steel Daytona/Pepsi notwithstanding), if you buy it from an AD, you have to buy it right. Try to get a discount on this, or, alternatively, see if you can get allocated something that is hard to get, like the aforementioned.

The future of this watch will depend, in large part, on how long it's produced and how many are produced. Both of those are unknown variables right now. I bought it because it was the exact watch I wanted. I love it and will hold it forever and pass it down to my son. Therefore, "resale", while important in concept, is not a factor in my enjoyment of this piece.

-cheers

156k USD sitting in my town (new 2019) and still goes unsold. Been over a month now. Well, it is from grey dealer here. There are 2 pieces selling pretty much the same price. It will go down even further from what they all say.

It will be worth less once you wear it than what you pay today as opposed to those who blessed by an AD with a hotter model who could wear and then flip.

Hopefully this represents a tiny part of your net worth and a short term $25K hit is small relative to what your portfolio declines were today or how much your home moved on redfin last month.

It probably will qualify you for some medium hotness too if you felt like flipping to offset your "loss off the lot"

(Also, I've never seen a PC in the wild whereas i've seen a fair amount of nautilus and aquanaut.)

I was curious about the availability, hence went to my AD to ask about it. Was told there is a waiting list currently. This watch is not an application piece in my area.

That is consistent where I am, too (SoCal). Where are you located?

The color of the dial looks great but 5270 will always be overshadowed by 5970 I will guess. 5970 is really taking on a life of its own among modern and vintage collectors alike but still remains static in terms of price so making it a good value I guess.

True, but in absolute terms i would buy with one's heart when choosing between these two?

It should not be a question, in my mind. The 5270p won my heart. And this is not an investment, it’s a watch.

I'm avoiding this man in person if he's wearing this watch.

Mine came in and I passed
The color of the dial just didn’t blend well with my skin tone and I just wasn’t feeling it
I think my 5270r to me looks better and I have the 5370p for the platinum desire !
