Score at Goodwill today!

Stopped by the local Goodwill store this morning looking for metal car ramps. I always check out the watches when I'm there and occasionally come away with a good score. Got a nice Seiko 5 automatic for $30 once and a couple other deals but usually it's all junk.
So I notice a diver watch and figure "cheap quartz" but check it out anyways.
I see Automatic and Swiss Made... Hmmm....Swirl it around a few times and no movement on the second hand.
It's marked $19.99, I figure WTH if nothing else I can take it apart. (aspiring hobby watchmaker).
I rush home and break out my case opener figuring "probably just a stuck balance wheel"...YUP, sure enough!
I tweak with it a few times, it was stuck pretty good. I'd almost given up when I hit it again and she sprang to life
So with that I give you my new $20 watch...

Thats awesome!!! never any super cool finds for me, got a 1930's womens lecoultre once,

picked up a 33mm vintage silver(possibly rolex) trench watch off the bay a few weeks back for $10. no caseback so I can't tell if it was rolex or not. its definatley got a rebberg movement in it though. the same movement i've seen in many of the eras rolex's

And I thought I was the only person that stops in there.

I haven't found any watches at the two I stop by. Have found other goodies though. Not beneath me to go in there. The money I save can go towards things like another watch or one of those things that go boom that we talk about on here.

Love hearing these stories.......reminds me of a $0.25 Rolex Bubble Back find, in the junk box, as it wouldn't "wind" (Crown was screwed down!)

Congrats and wear it in the best of health!

Holy crap why can't I ever get that lucky?!

My wife has gotten very lucky at goodwill and thrift stores throughout the years... vintage longines, omega, ernest borwl cocktail, etc.

very cool, great watch!!!!

fyi, i understand that "goodwill" gives the generous amount of ZERO to any charity... its actually a private business, everything is donated and what ever is sold is pure profit for the owner.
