That is very true. It's origins are as a "wow, I've got lots of things that are going bad and I need to do something with them" kind of dish. It's something that's prepared on picnics, parties, etc. Originally it was something put together on the spot, made with whatever was available,but as with many things, it has been gentrified.

That said, yeah, I'd still like to see a family recipe!

I may be getting a SECRET FAMILY recipe from a fellow professor who hails from Spain. I'll keep everyone posted - and don't worry, "if" and "when" I make it, I will post wonderful images AND share the recipe!
