Looking to purchase in HK soon!

Hey all,

About to travel to HongKong soon in the next 2 months and planning on picking up my first Rolex.

Just wondering if any of you have purchased from there recently and where I should go to pick one up. ADs/Boutiques.

I'm currently looking for the GMT2 BLNR or the Sub Hulk, as I already have the Speedy professional and the Seamaster 300MC Spectre. Both watches I love and am looking for something a bit different, which is why I want either the green or the blue/black watch since my other two are the standard colour schemes.

At first i was thinking of getting a Blue fluted DJ2, however the recent release of the DJ41 with the updated movement has put me off the DJ2 - may pick up one in the future if they release one in full stainless steel.

Also any thoughts of the Batman vs Hulk? Also will there be any updates to the movement in either of these watches in the imminent future? Just wondering as when I look at JUST the specs on paper of these 2 diver style watches, they seem to be a little older/less innovative than the master co-axial movement of the SM300.

Thanks all, any inputs is much appreciated.

No one will know about updates to the movement until the next baselworld in March.

In terms of ADs in HK, I can't say specifically but you'll find one in every corner!!

Unlikely that there will be a movement update anytime soon. Please tell me this isn't another hulk vs Batman thread. The answer is you need both obviously . I hear 5 percent is a standard HK discount.

No updates I would imagine and these models may not be that easy to find in HK. However it will be lots of fun during the chase.

Currently at HK airport where I am waiting for a delayed flight. The Rolex AD at the airport has the BLNR but not the Hulk in stock. Don't know if this helps...

Most HK ADs give 5% discount depending on model, at times BKNR or Hulk is not on display but ask.
The fun part is there are so many of them dotted everywhere in the city, be adventurous and explore out of the usual tourist areas, but make sure they are official Rolex AD.

Most speak English, I suggest doing some homework on HK list price then arm yourself with 10% to 13% discount to bargain, if they have the watch then name your price and go from there. Show your intention to buy on the spot works wonders, worse is they refuse.

Start walking to every AD you can cover, visit local eateries when you get tired and continue the adventure.

Got an update from HK; BLNR and Hulk are both highly sought after, with BLNR being slightly easier to find, and have to really bargain to get 5% discount.

Whereas Hulk is selling at full MSRP, take it or leave it as its demand is higher.
Getting 5% off Hulk is not undoable but expect an unhill battle.

I thought HK was supposed to be in the middle of a watch slump?

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys.

I haven't tried either on before, however I think I'd prefer the BLNR anyways even if the Hulk was harder to find.

Going off the Rolex prices thread it says it's $67300, hopefully I'll be able to get 5% off.

Also thanks for the heads-up Oinhan, do you think it's worth buying it from the Airport or the AD, probably will just pick it up from the airport if I'm not going to get much of a discount from the AD shops around Tsim Sha Tsui anyways right?

A bit surprised that it's hard to find the BLNR in HK, cousin was over at SG earlier this year and they had both the Hulk and Batman in stock at multiple places.

Cheers.

I'd probably use the airport as a backup if you can't find what you need at other shops. I doubt whether you'll get much (if any) discount there.
