Although I have lived in London all my life I have never eaten out for Christmas lunch except for two years running a couple of years ago when we stayed over the Christmas period at The George Inn at Stamford, Lincolnshire.
A few miles out from London but the place to go for a four of five course Christmas lunch, in the evening they have a magnificent buffet. Usually Lunch time is the time for the big meal. Evenings usually cold meats etc. not a dinner as such. The George Inn is an old time place but a nice place to go indeed! |

It’s been a few years but the beauty of Christmas in London and UK charm are the small villages 1hr outside, then pick a pub.
The Anchor, Wisley. The Royal Standard of England, Beaconsfield. The Black Rabbit, Arundel. The Hind's Head, Bray. The Old Neptune, Whitstable. Stag on the River, Eashing The Wellington Arms, Stratfield Turgis. The Thatcher's Arms, Great Warley. Or Google for London proper because there’s so many new or closed restaurants throughout the year, but get reservations now. |
