Patekaholic hinted a PM 5711 replacement model and 5740/1R. Are these consistent with what you heard?

They said it’s a skeleton dial 5711 in PM… that’s the rumours going around. Gonna be bonkers if it’s true!

Omg Breaking the watch game if that happens - I like the artisan the Geneve version so if it’s like that I’d love one - allocation in 2050 expected ;)

What's really strange is that, in the interview this year with Wei Koh, T. Stern said something like "there will be a 5711 replacement but not now" and "there are still XX Nautilus models available". They want to focus on the classical line-ups for the Sporty lines don't overshadow the brand.

Hence, I wouldn't have expected a new 5711 in 2022.

T. Stern said that skeleton dials have a problem as they are not really legible (which doesn't mean they can't find a way to make them better in that regard). He said in the past, there is also a problem of oiling issues on the long run (ageing faster because of sunlight, why Tourbillons are also on the back side). I'm not sure this is that much of a problem, especially if they are serviced regularly but however, what he said doesn't go really in the direction of a skeletonized model.

The exception was the 5650G dial aperture as their is no oiling there, as the system is based on flexible parts (and not pinions, etc...).

It will be interesting to see if they stay consistent.

He also said Tourbillons shouldn’t be exposed on the dial side. Then 5303 happened…

Patek will never do a skeleton sports watch dial . Takes too long to make. They’d only do that on their grand complications

From the current offerings, it is quite obvious that Patek is not a fan of skeleton dials. But I think AP is killing it with their open worked Royal Oaks in such a manner that Patek have to respond with a similar offering of their own. It's just a rumour, may be false haha! But the 15407ST and the ceramic QP open worked are seriously next level stuffs!

Good points indeed. Maybe they consider those watches have less wrist time in comparision (hence less exposure to sunlight) but I don't feel this is really a very solid reason. As they aim at an over 60K production, I guess they can bring Skeleton but in a very "Rare Handcrafts volume" way, hence rare and expensive.

True, they are beautiful. I remember the time when I could consider the steel 15305 in the early 2010's and thought it was too expensive ^^
The VC Overseas, that I'm not usually a fan of, also seems to have a very nice skeleton version. I haven't seen it in the metal though, but it looks nice on pictures for sure.

The ELEPHANT in the room that is not addressed thus far … 25th Anniversary of the Aquanaut!!

I’m sure sometime in the Fall or earlier we may see a limited edition 25th Anniversary edition Aquanaut. Hoping to be as special as the 5650G…(partial skeleton!!) will need to stay tuned for details.

Most manufactures said that 2022 is the year were they focus on production.
=> so they did everything to not release hot models (Except AP for obvious reasons)

We can safely expect a few Calatravas and very limited Aquanaut (Advanced research / application only?) for the anniversary.

He is now sober. ;)

I was told to brace for more Calatravas (**96). Not convinced by the probability of that reference but I stupidly want to believe it...

Regardless what are incoming, this year release (thus far) is one of the best in recent memory. The green 5270P, 5230P, 5326G, 5226G, 5172G, 5320G, 5205R, 5231G and 5470P are all stunners.

I know it is something completely out of Patek's line but I wish they made a more avant-garde model. ONE. Would be really nice and would spice things up a little bit.

Would love to see Patek flexing the muscles and doing something like this.
