AP enthusiasts: How likely is it to get an ROO as first watch?

Mainly https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...A340CA.01.html

My local boutique has one exhibition model and im curious if I like it, is it even a reasonable one to acquire vs a 41mm RO.

Thanks!

Yes the offshores can be had. Still May involve a wait.

ROOs and Codes are generally the first step with AP to getting a RO. There will definitely still be a wait especially if your looking for more desirable models such as the 43mm Taupe, but I think your linked one should be one of the easier ones.

I think this one is beautiful. Love the Gulf colors. Would look nice on a black rubber strap as well.

Agree in general, except with the last statement. I think this particular one is quite popular (and rightly so, it's spectacular in real life).

Edit: there are almost 3x as many Taupe 43mm ROOs listed on C24 as "Gulf" 42mm models. AP also has a habit of discontinuing ROOs in unusual colorways, like e.g. the blue and green CE 44mms that were made for less than a year, IIRC. I'm waiting to see what the 30th ROO anniversary brings next year, but if there's nothing super-exciting by end of January, I'll ask for the Gulf and hope it's still in production.

Very doable. That’s how I got started with AP this year, with a ROO diver. Waited about 3 months for the 15720st, then 5 months later got a RO. Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to wait times. Really depends on how much you know about the brand and a high degree of luck, which I think is how I got both my pieces. I do have a rockstar SA so that helps alot

I would think the 43 ROOs would be easier to come by than the gulf.

It all depends if ROO prices continue to fall below retail on the secondary market. If they do, the flippers won't be buying from the boutique and you will get one.

Question is... if the watch trades below retail, will you still want it?

That's why AP is looking for wealthier clients who will buy multiple pieces no matter what the market is doing. That's how it should be anyways

I would still want it but probably will consider buying gray. I’m a one watch a year guy.

OR, AP will continue to develop relationships with real watch enthusiasts irrespective of their wealth.

That’s how it’s done in the Uk I’m pleased to say.

No, but I was just asking for RO models previously. She kept offering me codes and I really am not the biggest fan, so I told her I would take an offshore. I sent her a list of offshores I would be interested in and she came back with the khaki green chronograph not long after.
