Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open Power Reserve - whew, what a name!!

Was out with a friend earlier today, as he wanted to find an upgrade for his Tissot. He insisted on walking away with a watch today, his birthday, and so we spent some time browsing around. He gave me a budget, some of his requirements, and I helped to narrowed down his options

Walked away with this, the Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open Power Reserve:

Gotta say it is a stunning piece, especially with that view into the movement. If they had the Chronomaster 1969 in store, it is likely what we would have walked out with, but this one isn't a bad choice, I reckon.

It seems my AD has discovered my 'weak spot'. Right after the piece above sold yesterday evening, they restocked with another and called me up for a session of 'poison'. They noticed how much I liked the Tricolor, and brought out two for a look-see...

I truly wished they had these in store yesterday. If they did, they my mate would have gone with the Chronomaster 1969 and I wouldn't have this yearning...

They are both very nice watches. I too really like the 1969, but the power reserve looks great on the dial. Congrats to your friend.

Contrats to your friend on the Chronomaster. I think the black dial looks real nice. I enjoy my black dial El Primero very much. I think it's a very underrated chronograph on the market.

Beautiful watch. I had the silver dial version and just sold it this fall. Still not sure if that was smart....

I wish these weren't so big, damn my dainty 6.4" wrist. Love the view of the movement through the dial

The El Primero 1969 is an 38mm size. The 42mm is not too big on my 7" wrist.

Nice, I think the last time I looked at the El Primero page I just saw everything on the front page as 42mm + and discounted the whole line, I like the partially skeletonized Synopsis at 40mm in RG as well. Will have to try to see them both in person next time I am traveling in a place that has a Zenith AD.

I had it in the back of my head, that someday, someday I would purchase the original Tricolor. But now, I am really liking the open heart. Perhaps not as iconic, but very gorgeous. When I was at the AD, I was staring at the ticking heartbeat for a good 5 mins. And that is without a loupe! The difference between the two is minimal, about $450, and the open heart loses the date complication... but I can live with that.

Btw @dexvd, as @ocean2059 mentioned, there is a smaller 38mm El Primero that I believe would suit your 6.4" wrist best. Link here for your easier reference :)

Yep, I love my 38mm Tri-color. It's great for skinny wrists.
