It would be nice if it went to a true collector who is passionate about horology.

Sad, yet true.

FYI: An AD called me about a timepiece this week and i passed because it's really too big for my wrist. He knew it was worth more than MSRP and we discussed this, yet i still passed so he could pick someone on his list, who did immediately buy it and is said to be wearing / loving it as spoke to AD two days later asking about a different timepiece (which is arriving today).

I disagree with the notion that these people are not true collectors or don't know about watches. I was at the auction and I can say that is not true.

No. This is Paul Newman's non-Paul-Newman Daytona, not Paul Newman's Paul Newman Daytona.

No, it’s P. Newman’s “Big Red” - not Paul Newman’s PN! Confused yet?!

This one is way different. It's not the exotic dial (red detail around dial), and it's not the one that started it all. No way, IMO does it come anywhere in the neighborhood of the one from 2017. There's only one with that history, and this isn't it.

But.........I did get to try it on!

Curious to see what this will sell for. I bet more than the first. But I’m not bidding or places bets on where the bid lands either lol.

I wonder how many Daytonas Newman had? I've read that Paul gifted the "Newman Dial" 6239 to his son-in-law because Joanne had gotten him a new watch. I wonder if this 6263 it that watch.

That is what the Hodinkee article linked above says.

It will sell for less...less desireable dial......why would anybody think it would sell for more????

Different market this time. Only a few years later but the watch market has changed a lot in that time. Would any of these auction prices been the same 5-6 years ago? Those are some reasons someone would think it would sell for me.

And less desirable for some.

It’s not. Read the article carefully. It’s a different piece. PN had two Daytonas apparently. This is the one he gave to a daughter which she kept and NOT the one he gave to another daughter’s boyfriend.

It's up for sale again?

It’s not an exotic dial but for my eye it’s a much nicer example overall and the watch I’d rather own.

That said could give two craps about Paul and would just pick one up for 75-100k lol

So, how many millions will it sell for this time? Will it beat the record of the other Daytona? Curious .
