I’m old fashioned and don’t like diamonds on a watch that a man is wearing. However, I think the way it’s done on the Plat DD, is very tasteful and would allow you to wear the watch even casually with jeans and only those who know would know.

That one is clearly the nicest in my opinion, even though the OP didn’t list it.

Been active on here as of late....but narrowing it down. Love the feedback and insig

Not to throw a monkey wrench into the decision, but after owning the platinum DD40, I’d suggest platinum Daytona with baguettes.

I love the platinum DD, but due to its weight and no micro adjustments on the claps, it can be slightly unwieldy at times. The Platona has the Easylink clasp, which is very helpful when wearing a heavy watch.

Believe it or not..i only like the daytona in the SS panda version. The DD fits nice on my 7.5” wrist. Just really going back and forth with the motif vs baguettes.

I’d go this route then. But both of your DD options are fantastic.

This will be my dress watch in my lineup, but wanted the watch to be versatile so it will not just be a expensive watch sitting in the box. At the end of the day I will go what I like, but its always good to hear other views especially from someone with wear time. Watches are tough because you think its a great watch and sometimes after owning it.... you just dont have the connection you think you would have.

Sounds like the platinum DD w/diamonds is for you, then. I'm not going to disagree, as it's a fantastic watch...and I do think the DD is a versatile enough watch to get the job you're looking for done.

Have you thought about the oyster flex models, like the YM 42 and/or the Daytona? The OF bracelet does a great job of toning down the flash, while still delivering a a great feeling/looking product.

Whichever way you go, good luck.

I have nothing against diamonds, quite the contrary. When done well it can look great or it can make the "show-off" one looks for. But in this case I would pass on the diamond and go for a very classy no. 1 choice. Why? Because it's great with dress and also leisure. The bezel is very nice and the dial is just noticable nice, not show-off nice.

The no. 2 doesn't have as nice bezel and I would say here the dial stands out a lot, so it starts to be in the show-off category.

No. 3 has probably the most "bling" to it, because of the diamonds. But if someone goes for diamond, then better do it properly, if you know what I mean :) So either go full show off or just go dressy/casual.

Love the opinions and feedback. Originally I was drawn to a few watches in the DD range. The platinum motif was my first pick. When exploring more with the platinum ice blue dials... I started to dig the baguette and roman numeral versions. However, I decided to start chasing a motif (my original favorite). I think I located one and will have to wait a few days to confirm if its available. Thanks again guys

I'd go 2 then 1 although personally prefer it with blue roman quadrant dial. Someday.

Either 2 or 3. My favorite DD 40 was always the platinum with the diagonal motif and sticks however the ice blue with the baguettes is pretty nice and not too dressy with the diamond markers

The blue dial is just perfect. Looks great dressed up or down. Love the platinum but to my eyes Datejusts and Day-Dates simply must have fluted bezels.

Good job on your decision. Can’t go wrong with it.

I will say this though. I don’t know about you, but I’m tough on jewelry. The few platinum pieces that I have owned or still own have shown excessive wear pretty quickly. This may not be an issue for you, but I would think about it.

Your concern about the diamond dial being a good jeans and t-shirt watch is warranted. I think the WG Roman Dial is the ultimate Dress Up or Down watch and is incredibly underrated. I also love the Platinum dial, but I don't believe the extra money is worth it.
+1 I tend to agree. In a vacuum, either of the platinum DDs would be killer. But for versatility, out of the options choice 1 is the best IMO. Best wishes

There's no bad Rolex Platinum watch!!! I've gone with the Daytona because the DD looked plain in comparison!!!

I’ve replied earlier. I also love the blue Roman dial WG DD. But since you specifically stated you wanted to be able to dress it up and dress it down, and we know you like the romans since you included it in your first option; I again think the platinum quadrant w romans is the choice for you. Incredible jeans watch. And can be easily worn with a suit. I just saw one on DavidSW for 52k.

I like the Roman dial and entertained that watch with my decision. However, I went with the watch that originally caught my attention. Funny thing is that I did get it off of DavidSW (snagged this before it was posted).
