Opinions please 1675 mk2 dial and hands

Hi

As you can see from my threads I have been trying to put my fathers, now mine, 1675 GMT dated 1975 back to as close as possible original condition.

Have found this dial and hands but would really appreciate opinions on if they are correct for my watch.

Many thanks for all responses.

Pictures follow.......
( ps on picture 2 and 5 there is a little debri on the top of minute hand)

Its a bit picky but from 11-1 there is damage to the top edge which you will be able to see at certain angles once this dial is installed.

Also, and sorry if this was discussed in the other thread, what makes you think your watch is from 1975? What is the serial # and why do you think MK2 is correct for 1975?

Thanks for the reply and comment about slight damage. I had noticed that but hoped it could be repaired as not on the main part of the dial.

It was my father's watch from new and I have the original papers that are stamped 10th October 1975. The serial is 3.2m which I think is mk2 dial.

Overall do you think its a good match?
Thanks Steve

So thats a sale date. Your serial number goes to about 71/72. Seems like it matches up. I wouldn't worry about touching up the dial. My opinion is to leave it as it is.

Not an exact science, but easy enough to date it to 71/72 as seen here

I dont know if you've had the back of your watch off but the caseback should be stamped with the quarter/yr as well. As with Kingface's observation, "not an exact science" but it will help you narrow it down/confirm the date of manufacture.

found this

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The coronet is very similar to that of the Type C & Mark 0 dials.
The ‘Rolex’ printing is thick and the letters are more square than other matte dials, the majority of which are much wider than they are tall.
The L and E in ‘Rolex’ are spaced much closer to each other than the rest of the letters.
The ‘Oyster Perpetual’ and SCOC text retain the heavy serifs of the Mark 1.5.
The lume is flat and does not appear as waffled as the late Mark 1 dials.

This is a MK-2 Dial in very good condition, not sure what you need for your project, but for a 1973 GMT is really appropriate.
Consider that in this kind of projects is usually very difficukt to match teh patina between the dial and the hands.
If you need a dial, go for this before somebody else will buy it.
MK-2s are quite rare and with hands even more. I would not wait.

Hi Steve,
The printing and font matches the real thing. No issues there. You mentioned you're on the hunt for the lume, I see no issues there either with this dial.
