Coinbase seems to have a lot of issues, frequently.

I was going to begin with some small purchases but after three tries to validate my debit card, that failed on their end, I gave up. No customer service, no response to Twitter.

Does not give me a good feeling especially when they cannot clear trades for hours or days.

I still have the account but there is no money because I could not put any in. Perhaps someday if they get their operation working, likely after government regulation, then it will function more like a true exchange.

I will stick to making money in my Schwab account where I can actually get things done.

Brian,

How long ago was this issue? I was able to transfer money last week from my bank account and I was able to do bank wire within 6-8 hours large amount was deposited in my gdax account which is part of coinbase. I have friends telling their large orders are filled within seconds to minutes ...

site was constantly down during large price swings of BTC, said they couldn’t handle the traffic, couldn’t login, then later could login but couldn’t make any buys or sells, it got really buggy and started to not trust my money there.

yes, exactly! That’s how I felt. Also if you look on reddit there are some horror stories of coinbase not returning users deposits and other customer service issues. But honestly i think all crypto exchanges have been having their own issues, not just coinbase.

The massive influx of new accounts has resulted in numerous problems. Something to keep in mind though, Coinbase and GDAX are pushing near 15 million users. They work fine for most. I’ve had no problems moving money in, buying, moving crypto out, or selling and sending money back to my bank.

Some Reddit posted problems end up being the user’s fault rather than a technical issue. Downtimes last spring were terrible. They’ve actually improved a lot since then.

Customer service response times are truly horrible though. They need to greatly increase staffing. FWIW, anyone interested should consider GDAX rather than just buying through Coinbase. GDAX is owned by Coinbase. Cheaper and more advanced.

For the forumites who are active in the crypto scene, I'm curious if there's been any chatter about CashBet and their CashBet Coin ICO?

This was in the last two weeks, followed Coinbase instructions, Coinbase failed to validate the card so I gave up.

Not a good experience.

Neither do I but I'm just trading for quick gains on bounces.

I'd say btc @ 8-9000 and ETH @ 850-900 is money buys.

Here is a nice call that I can see happening

I did flip some LTC after buying at 230 yesterday 1/4 position, I bought 1/2 position at 151 and sold some at 184 and the rest at 213... scary 24 hours but in turn made a nice quick profit.

Coinbase validated my bank account just fine.

The recommend a debit card for small purchases so that is what I tried to do.

Common sense tells me they don't want small purchases so they refuse to validate.

You have been riding this wave for a bit though it seems. Many here do not have 1000% gains to pad their position.
