Anyone else love the 5170?

I went to an event today and was excited to wear my 5170. It has been a while since I have done anything somewhat formal, so today I wore the watch for the first Time in a while. I fell in love with it. The beautiful dial and the proportions really speak to me. It wears surprisingly big for it’s stated size which suits me just fine. I love the way it sits on my wrist and the weight is just right for me. That said, I’ve never seen another one in the wild and don’t see much mention made of the watch. Am I crazy for loving this so much more than my dearly departed 5726A1?

I love mine as well. Its my fav in my collection. The P version has a very short run so won't have many in the wild.

Really beautiful pictures. Mine looks black in the picture but turns a stunning blue in sunlight. The baguettes are really nice. Not overstated but just really add to the whole effect. I bought the watch because I really liked it. Had no idea it was relatively rare. Anyone know how many P they made?

These 5170s are beautiful understated classics.

There are times when things evolve aesthetically but these 5170 are timeless.

This P version is maybe the first to get those gradated dials and it looks just gorgeous. As often with Patek, it is well proportioned and comfortable on the wrist.

Enjoy it well and thanks for sharing :)

It's the only watch I've ever tried on twice, and the only watch that made me consider trading my platinum Daytona in to acquire. But too late now, and I probably wouldn't want to wear it every day like I do my Daytona. But it's a beautiful, understated watch.

Pretty much my favorite Patek ever made that I could someday reasonably add to my collection. Really great watch all around.

Yes, love it, absolutely love it. And I generally do not care for chronographs!

Glad to see there is still a lot of love out there for the watch. I am looking to add another watch to the collection and have no idea where to go. Something with complications or simple like an aquanaut? Any suggestions?

Love mine…really liked the 5170g, but the 5170p in my opinion is on another level. Haven’t missed the g since buying a platinum version

I have a question as there are a few owners here.

I liked the 5170G quite much for its elegance, the discretion, comfort, I would love a 29-535. It can be worn like a Calatrava in some ways.

About the 5170P, do you think it could be a daily wearer, wearing everyday that watch considering the diamond markers?

I think so. Anyone that's seen the watch agrees the baguettes are very low key. Feel like my zaratsu markers on my GS catches more light. It's definitely versatile and I've done shirt and jeans with it without an issue.

Reminds me of the baguette dial on the platinum Daytona -- very subtle in person, so isn't so formal looking.

5170 is the first men's chronograph using the fully in-house Patek chrono movement. It is an interesting story how Patek used it in their ladies Chrono watch first.

It will be a classic Patek watch reference, where the proportions are well balanced and beautiful movement through the clear caseback.

I have owned mine since 2013 and it is a keeper

Love the 5170 in all metals. The non pt are criminally underrated imho particularly YG.

I wear mine quite often. Prior to purchasing I was worried it wouldn’t get much wearing time as I considered it “formal”; however, I have put it on a suede strap and found it wearable for nearly every occasion. The diamond baguettes are very subtle as well.

One thing I really like about this reference is no one has any idea what I’m wearing and never feel there is a target in my back.

Another member asked about rarity too. I believe the reference was in production for two years? Maybe a more knowledgeable member on here can step in and opine on this.

Thanks a lot for your experience feedback! I perfectly imagine the watch being something people absolutely don't recognize. That's cool one can still enjoy a Patek without being too scared about unwanted attention (I don't wear my 5712 anymore).

Yes, it was launched in 2017 and discontinued in 2019.

Great strap btw :)

Yes love it.
I’d like to pick up a 5170g. Quite like the white pulsation dial.
